Bride of the Water God/ Tang Style Hanfu

I have been trying to find information and some sort of pattern (or basis to go off of) for the Hanfu that are worn in Bride of the Water God. I am hesitant to just start draping since they are historical and probably have specific structures that I want to at least attempt to mimic. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about this?

The style is specific to the Tang Dynasty in China.

I have found historical patterns for the jacket, but only for a longer version which goes over the skirt in other styles and not under the skirt. ---> http://www.pinterest.com/pin/486318459733253862/ I am not sure if I can just shorten it or not.

I would think there would be no issue with shortening it as all of the ancient Asian patterns are based on rectangles.
That is really lovely, good luck with it!
Nothing is impossible, but some things are very expensive.

I love the look of Hanfu, I've been experimenting with designs inspired by it myself.
Good luck with the costume, and I think you will be fine shortening that jacket pattern.
