Thanks! I've used a blue cotton homespun for the backing, and the sequins are stitched down in overlapping columns with a thread that matches their colour.

Where did you get the sequins, my searches haven't turned up many of the rectangle style

I was amazed how difficult it is to find rectangular blue sequins!

They're from Athena Beads, a UK based site. I used their Cornflower Blue rectangular sequins. They don't seem to have any in stock at the moment, but they have holographic blue rectangles and cornflower blue squares that could be used. Some people have bought the 20mm flat round blue sequins and trimmed them into rectangles to use on their costumes too.

I am in the process of getting all the materials for my Elsa costume, it's been a fun task. So far the pattern I plan on using, with a few sight alterations, is vogue v2237. I plan on cutting rectangles from large circular sequins for the top. I am planning on using decals for the snowflakes on her cape then adding glitter to them and a ton of small rhinestones for the rest of the designs. The fabric I am using is satin for the dress, tulle for the cape and a sheer fabric i can't think of for the long sleeve arms. I found shoes that will need to be painted and glitterfied. I am using the Suzi wig, formerly Tauriel, from arda. I found snowflake pendants that can be made into hair accesories. Finally, I need contacts but I have a high positive perscription so I need special ones not just any. Oh, I should mention I have never made something this complicated and have not sewn anything major besides a purse or some easy skirts. So I definitely have my work cut out for me but am really excited. Any tips or tutorials that can help would be great!

I'm with you there.... this will be the most complex cosplay I've attempted...

I just finished on cutting the oval silver sequins and am about halfway through the blue and clear ones. Sigh....

I am also working on an Elsa cosplay right now. I wish I had found some of those longer beads because I am doing small squares due to what a local craft store had! I wish the fabric I had for the shirt top was a little more stretchy. Does anyone have any suggestions for that?

Here is a progress shot. So far I have 4/30 layers completed and it has taken 800 sequins so far! Sorry this is slightly blurry, my phone doesn't like the reflections off the sequins! http://i212.photobucket.com/albums/c...ps7b83a77a.jpg
Here is a handy pattern I found for the cape design:

Just a heads up, Athena Beads has the blue sequins back in stock. They also have a 25% discount until the end of the month if people thought of trying that.

Got the mesh tops today, the blue is actually a pretty good match for the rest of my fabric so the ivory one won't need to be dyed.... phew! Lol

What is the color of her cape? Is it a sky blue or aqua?

It differs depending on the source. Generally it looks the same (or a similar) shade of blue as the mesh top she wears.

There's a whole variety of colors
here:

Also there's a few of the "half half" transformation dresses being done.

Just click on the "other Characters" at the bottom next to Elsa's name to see the gallery. Some really cute cosplays there. Even though a lot of them are not screen sccurate they still 'read' as Elsa

The skirt in the pattern set has large darts in it, so if you can pattern out the darts through redrafting it, you could use it, but it will be easier to just go with a half-circle skirt pattern.
This is a little later but I'm SO curious. Where in the WORLD did you get those sequins? Or did you cut them yourself? They look the perfect color I've been looking for so if there's any link or anything you could give me, I'd owe you one BIG time
