Twilight Princess Dress

http://www.deviantart.com/art/Princess-Zelda-91824113

This is what I'm working on cause I want to remake the whole thing. My challenge is the dress and vest.
I found this pattern http://www.simplicity.com/p-9579-misses-costumes.aspx and I was wondering if I made the dress from this without the sleeves and then make half it in the color for the vest to take a crack at altering a pattern.

I want the bottom to be poofy and I don't plan to worry about the pleats. I'm going to get a hoopskirt thing that has 2 rings to keep myself from tripping over it.

A vest is a separate garment, the purple portion of this costume is called a bodice.

Yes, this pattern is a good starting point for that character. Look around at others who have made it, some made it as one continuous dress and some as a skirt and blouse and consider which assembly method would suit your body type and skill set best.

I wouldn't call this poufy, I'd say is flares, and a hoop is indeed a good way to achieve both looks. Poufy tends to make people thing of ruffles and gathered fabrics, which this dress is smooth clean lines. For this dress an A-line single hoop crinoline would be best, not a multi hoop round shaped version.

I actually found a two ring hoop skirt that is more A-line then round. My special power is ebay XD

But thank you for the advice! Yeah, I get my terms mixed up, an old friend called it "Nadine-glish" and even my husband before it was given a proper name, pointed out how I pretty much talk and hear in a separate language.

But I like the layering assembly method, because the last time I tried to sew things as one piece it just turned out really really bad.
AS for the underskirt part (I can't spell it right now)

I planed on getting the 2nd one, the 2 Hoop A-Line.

I want to make this costume too. I found these cool gloves on amazon that I am going to use. I plan on sewing them to another pair of white gloves, though I haven't figured out how I should add the pattern yet.

OH! That's perfect for gloves! I'll keep that in mind, though try looking on ebay. You might find a seller to get both pairs of gloves from and save money. I saw your previous post, where did you get that reference image?

Google image search is the best. :P I saw this image in a Nintendo Power article. It must have been scanned at really high dpi because it shows the details really well. It is also helpful to play Brawl and save screenshots to your SD card.
