Airbrush Tattoos?

Sorry for posting so many threads here, I've just been obsessing about makeup lately!

So, I've been planning things out for my Maya Cosplay, and the tattoos continue to present a challenge. I found out I have an airbrush machine in my garage, so I plan on cleaning it up and using it for airbrush makeup. I found a store on Etsy that sells the stencils for the tattoos, all I need is the airbrush makeup.

I need something that has a good light blue color, doesn't smudge, and can be applied with an airbrush. Any suggestions?

This stuff is pretty amazing. Check out sky blue or electric blue.

Okay so it depends on how much you want to spend on paint but I recommend TEMPTU's alcohol based paints, they have a light blue but you can go even lighter with white
You can also use their silicone based paints but you have to set the paint well afterwards
I love using airbrush paints they make everything so much easier

TEMPTU Pro has a huge range of shade so you might just fined the one you need out of the bottle as well.

Frost looks like a good match.

We have ProAiir, Endura and several brands. And we custom cut stencils.

After looking at several options, Proaiir seems to be the best choice. I think I'll be going with that one. Thank you for the suggestions!

I was painted by another artist at a convention who used this, and I was pretty impressed with the stuff, but I haven't painted with it personally.

Jest paints has all of their MSDS sheets online, which contains ingredient lists:

Awesome. Not the full ingredients but the building block.

Vinyl Acetate-Dibutyl Maleate Copolymer (is a paint and adhesives base)
PolyAcrylate converted into a neutral (plastic know as acrylics or polyacrylates)
Water-soluble gel solution <15% Proprietary (carrier)
Pigments < 15% Various (you can name them)
Surfactants (a type of soap SLS begin the most common), Dispersants (to create a Colloid of the product), etc < 5% Various
Water to 100%

I figure this was a plastic paint because if it's water based but waterproof, then it has to cur in air and plastic will do that but the formulation lets it break down with oils easier.

Just to know if you need a glue for glitter or really stubborn pigment shade Vinyl Acetate is what you should look for in the formula.

These days very few airbrush makeups are truly water-based. Most think because it is washable with soap and water it is water-based. Most are hybrid formulations. One thing I do find with ProAiir is the lack of particles in the air which makes it a good makeup for those cosplayers doing body painting at home or in hotel rooms.

ProAiir prides itself in not choosing colors that stain. I was with the owner last week and she had a lovely purple she created but it does stain a bit. I am hoping she will release it as a Halloween seasonal color anyway.

I am very familiar with ProAiir. It is rapidly growing as a favorite makeup with body painters.
One thing I've been doing and now Showoffs shows is to mist the makeup onto sponges.
So one need not always have to use an airbrush with some airbrush makeups. Not all makeups work with this trick but ProAiir does. And not a characters can be done with this trick.

With ProAiir is you can get samples, not something other airbrush makeup lines offer.

Do you have pics of the body paintings in your gallery? Always fun to see what people have created.

I don't think I have pics of that particular painting. It was a face painting convention, so there was lots of getting painted, then washing it off so I could get painted again. The artist was Dutch Bihary though, he's got lots of stuff on his Facebook.

Most of my facepainting stuff isn't cosplay strictly speaking, so I have uploaded any of those pics I didn't think they belonged here.

Dutch is a good friend of mine and his work is amazing.

Diutch loves ProAiir as do I. It will make for quality airbrush tattoos. Cutting your own stencils is not too hard, If you want advice on that just ask.
