finding part

im looking for the equivilant of a nail with a slightly larger tube over it
but i want less friction and no creation of metal dust
so some sort of small (5-10mm dia) cylindrical bearing (as opposed to a disk)

now im fairly certain its something along the likes of a bearing, pully, roller
but i cant for the life of me find anything websearching

any help appreaciated

I am unable to visualize what exactly you are looking for, a visual reference could help.

A small pneumatic piston might work, or at least help you with search results.

something like this, but these are huge conveyor rollers

if it helps any, i believe this is the opposite of what i need
it appears that youd mount via the flange, and the inside will rotate independant of the external

or would i be beter served just finding a hard tubing to go over a nail?
(as junky as it may look to have bent over nails sticking out)

in which case, finding a source for a hard non metal tubing that wont melt or shatter from a bit of friction and pressure
is giving me fits aswell (one of those hard drinking straws probably wont work)

cylindrical bearing is what you are looking for. the Grainger link might be your best resource. What are you building/ does it have to be metal? how much weight is it going to bear?

... seems like they like keeping these squared up
once i find a outer diameter or width i can use, the other mesurement skips up to match
ie, find a 19mm width, and your limited to outer diameters over 17mm

im probably over complicating things, and should find a "nail and sleeve"

i need them as a "guide" for a rubber flat band inside some pvc pipe
to put it shortly im making a sort of "slingshot" (air quotes)
and im not sure how well a hard plastic sleeve over a nail will hold up
if i play around with the thing

due to the nature of rubber im not sure how much force the "guides" will meet
(band attachment will be more than sufficient)

but due to the positioning once i put it together itd be a huge pita
to ever need to do maintenance just cause a plastic sleeve gave out

as to assemble this parts ill be relegated to a stick with some fun-tak
to put a sleeve (or bearing) onto the pins

and i had intended to permenantly assemble the thing so it dont come apart
so if anything did happen, then id have to factor in terribad angles into the complications

but like i said, it seems the harder i look for something "fail proof"
the more i feel im over thinking things and need to keep it simple
