Making a Bland Shirt Sparkle

I'm working on a cosplay of Violet from Tekken so I took to Amazon and bought this shirt.

I like it, but I want it to sparkle to get it closer to the source material. However, I don't want to just throw glitter on it or if I need to, I want a way to keep the glitter from getting on everything around me at cons. Also, is there a way to duplicate the pink/purple gradient look of the source?

Thank you so much!

rhinestones, particularly the really tiny ones. Not difficult, but VERY time consuming.

While dying an existing garment isn't out of the question, the fact that what you bought was "costume" may mean it's such poor quality fabric it won't hold up to the heat of being dyed.
If you try paint, it will dull the shine.
Nothing is impossible, but some things are very expensive.
