Honestly probably not, at least not without coming off as pretty rude. We typically try to coordinate our cosplays so we do group stuff on the same day, and if we both did Mei she'd probably want us to be an Overwatch group that day. On top of that if there's only one OW shoot scheduled for the whole con we'd both have to do that day to be in it as well. So there'd really be no escaping it without coming out and saying "I don't want to do this any more because of you."

I do need to quit forgetting the Brigitte is always an option now, too, if I want to put Mei off for later. She's just as simple as casual/sleepy Mei and would mostly just be styling a wig. Likely a lacefront which would be new to me but still.

Aim for the brocades! Personally, I would play with different prints and such but that's my style. lol

Finally washed all of the thrift store things. Hoping my mom goes out tomorrow so I can test Minako in the upstairs bathroom with the nice lighting.

Alright, I am in for one busy Genrecon this February! On top of artist alley I finally get to run my HTTYD trivia panel, and I'm probably going to dust off Schala for their Saturday ball. And decided , "Hey, I don't have enough to do yet, let's also do another fancy costume on Friday!" And am trying to convince myself that no, I can NOT vend my table in Heather on Saturday (lots of pointy armour) even if it is best suited to the panel.

Woohoo, I got lucky in the clearance bin! A while back I found a last two yards of a nice red wool twill and bought it. Was about a yard shy of enough for a Victorian skirt, so decided I'd make a medieval mantle for SCA garb at some point and stashed it away. Well, I was digging around the clearance bin last week to get cheap mockup fabric. Stumbled upon a suspiciously similar fabric with about two yards left on it, got it because it felt like wool and only cost $6 a yard because clearance. Just burn tested it and compared the two yardages side by side, and so far, hooray! They're basically the same colour, I can't tell them apart. And the clearance stuff is at LEAST blended with wool. Burn test was kind of inconclusive but it behaved like a mix of wool and probably cotton (caught fire easier than pure wool but didn't burn as fast and "glowey" as cotton, did leave actual ashes so wasn't a synthetic, smelled pretty bad but not as bad as the pure wool...). I'll do a final test when it's bright and sunny out again, and if they still match, YAY! I can make my 1890's walking skirt/teahouse outfit after all, without even needing to go to Toronto for a special wool trip. I was hoping on a nice purple wool for the skirt, but red'll be fine since I plan to wear it on Valentine's day, it still suits the look. And if I'm lucky after cutting out the rest of the bf and I's medieval garb, I'll have enough leftover purple or blue for a nice contrasting hem guard! Will just need cottons for a shirtwaist and lining, some lace for my jabot, might need to stitch a new pair of gloves up (I'll see what I still have in the stash), I might be able to use wool scrap for a hat or bonnet... hmmm, shoot, I did want silk satin for a belt and the local shops only have ugly raw silk. But at least that's an item I can leave til last or leave off compared to the actual skirt part.

Well, looks like I am going to need a new June con. Holy crap ANext social media team. X_X At least this means more money for Ota?

Tested Minako today and looks good! Also finally printed out a gold set of servant class cards so I can have a F/GO set. Just need to put them together.

Something about the gathering job on one of my Sailor Mars bows looks wrong but I can't put my finger on what it is.

And I can't take it apart to have another go because my seam ripper has vanished into the ether.

Looking at photos from Sac-Summer's Disney gathering is making me more excited for the Sac-Winter Disney gathering(and more motivated to get Merida finished xD)! Just hope the weather isn't bad during the con weekend. ;u;

On my way home today, I noticed Fabricland is apparently moving to a new location? I haven't been there in a while so I was surprised to find out. There's another one that's a bit further away and I didn't get a chance to look at the new location, but either way it's a bit further from me then it is now. So that's going to be interesting once I get fabric for Blue Angel.

The offending bow.

Ideally I want it to look like the red one (or for that matter other chest bows made using the same patterns and method). But I'm not sure what I messed up on to make it look like that instead.

Perhaps the pinching/pleating you did for the body of the bow wasn't enough?

So I made another set of Fate cards and uploaded it to a fb group I'm in...and a few people want me to make some for them. Well, this is another way to make some money? lol

You need to make the bow... wider? taller? bigger vertically! There's not enough fabric to gather down to form the pleats, that's why you don't see a lot of gathers there. It might also be that the center tie isn't holding the pleats you made. I would unstitch the center part, pleat the bow again and hold it in place (maybe tack it down with some hand stitches) while you put the center on again.
There is a point where when you are scaling a pattern to be smaller, you should keep some of the dimensions the same because of the behavior of the fabric. If you look at the center of the two bows, they look roughly the same size. This means that the width of the bows are being gathered down to roughly the same size. The pink(?) bow is wider than the purple bow, so more fabric is being put into the center, forming the folds, while the purple one has less fabric going into the same amount of space, resulting is less folding.
I would make the purple bow the same width as the pink one. If you want it smaller, then maybe you can shave off a small amount, but not as much as it currently is.

So I might be saving Nagito due to not being able to find matching fabric for the jacket I'm recycling and instead go ahead and do Junko for Sac-Winter. If I can style the beast of the wig that is. x_X

The pattern was pre-scaled when I got it, so yeah.

Had a dental appointment and realized there was a Daiso within the area. Ended up getting eight small EVA mats, crafting knifes and their replaceable blades, and a sort of "white stretching pole" that can be extended or retracted. There's other things missing, of course, but I can eventually start working towards this version of Miriam's sword.

I'm not gonna lie – it's really damn hard to lift with just one hand (at least comfortably) because of its bulk and how the majority of the weight is on one side. I need two hands to carry it and, preferably, lean it against something (my shoulder etc).

In other words: I don't foresee myself walking around a lot with this thing in hand at a con, lol. I guess I'll mostly be standing somewhere and looking cool with it. Why do Monster Hunter props have to be so massive? XD And here I tried making it as light-weight as possible.
