Pinafore dress Help needed

Hello there.

I am new to sewing, but I and my friend A want to sew something for our friend B for birthday. Considering she's a whovian (likes dr who) we found something as awsome as this

Photos and design and everything from http://darling-army.goodsie.com/ , but we cannot afford it ,because the dress would cost almost as much as the dress itself , and this page accepts only 7 dress commissions a month, so we can't count on only luck.

So I found this pattern for a pinafore dress http://www.aimhighqq.blogspot.com/20...ore-dress.html with video and it's absolutely free.

But could help me with the back pattern? Should it be only straps? Where should the buttons go and are they even needed?

Any help would be apreciated.
Thank you in advance.

(I'm verry sorry for my English TT____TT)

If you go to the 0:37 make you can see what the dress looks like from the back, although it is quite different from the dress that you want, you can always alter it.
I would recommend having buttons or velcro to be adjustable, the buttons normally go on the inside front part of the dress.
Other than that can you be more specific about your question.

I have made a number of historical type pinafores and greatly prefer the super long strap loop & tie method, but that is hard to describe and don't have a pattern I can share easily, so buttons it is.

Sew the bib to the skirt at the bottom of the waistband in front, not the top (many either direct otherwise or don't say. it just looks better). Put button holes on the waistband in the back, put the pinafore on, tuck the straps into the waistband behind your button holes. Push a pencil or dress marking pen through the button hole and mark; now you have perfect button placement. Sew the buttons at your mark.
