prescription contacts??

so I am going to dress up as Julia Carpenter spiderwoman, but I am pretty blind and wear decently thick glasses.

Is there an affordable way to get a pair of prescription contacts for just one or two events?

There is no way I can pull of the costume with glasses.

A reference picture would be helpful.

Do you have a contact lens prescription? You'll need that before you should order lenses. You can also see if your doctor carries the lenses you're looking for (though online you can get a single pair for a better price).

Besides the cost of getting the prerequisite eye exam to make sure you can wear contacts plus get your measurements and prescription, most eye doctors will also give you some non-coloured trial lenses to get used to using contacts (you didn't specify coloured ones, so I assume you mean either regular prescription OR with colour?). HOWEVER, be advised that lenses aren't something you can just stick in on your first try and wear all day; you need to spend about a week gradually getting your eyes used to them (2 hours one day, 4 the next, then 6, etc.). If you got a trial set of something like five pairs of single-use lenses (which is what I got), if you re-used the lenses a few times on the first days when you're only wearing them a few hours (they don't recommend it, but I'm not throwing out a one-day lens if I've only worn it a few hours), you may manage to still have one or two unopened pairs to use for the cosplay (if they're more than a few days apart, don't re-use single-use lenses. Even my biweekly coloured lenses only keep for about a month after opening; circle lenses, which I also have, can keep up to six months).

you don't have to get contacts for a cosplay but if you want them i recommend getting perscription contacts since if so they don't damage your eyes and colored lens from an eye doctor last for two weeks and if you have never worn contacts before thats why its best to go to the eye doctor to try them on and make sure they fit your eyes correctly.

I recently got two pairs of colored contacts for Aki Con since I have terrible eyesight. XD I'm used to wearing normal contacts, so the transition wasn't a huge deal for me.

If you're not used to contacts, you'll want to get used to them before trying color contacts. However, if you've worn contacts before and know your current prescription (ex:/ Mine is -3.00) then you can just order them online w/o getting an eye exam first.

I ordered mine from pinky paradise. I can vouch for their reliability, and the price was decent. They have many contacts that come in prescription, and the size will fit most eyeballs well (off the top of my head, I think they're 14mm contacts, but I'm not sure).

Just make sure you know your prescription and know how to take care of contacts before you buy, okay? :3

Best of luck!
