Twitchy eyes and makeup?
I have really twitchy eyes when it comes to apply makeup so the only time I've ever worn eyeliner was for a school play (and someone else had to struggle to apply it). I can apply mascara no problem but I think a bit of eyeliner and fake lashes would really help make my cosplays look a bit better.
I thought I'd ask from a cosplay perspective, how on earth do I relax my eyes to apply makeup?

I sometimes have this problem. Or I should say USE to..Back in high school I wore a lot of eyeliner and eye shadow. I would do the top first, and use my finger to hold my lashes down while I applied the make up, then look up as high as possible (with my eye, not my face) and do the bottom. I never used mascara oe lashes so I can't help there, but since I was holding my eye closed, it wouldn't do much twitching..Hope this helps

This was me when I started wearing make up. And when I started wearing contacts.
Like JasonTerror said, you just have to manipulate your face a bit. To get a really close line, I pull my eyelid up lightly while my eye is closed. I've never used false lashes before since all I require is a nice lengthening mascara. But I'd probably use demi lashes if I were you. Or even cutting the lash band and applying them in segments. But first and foremost, take your time and practice! It use to take me forever to get my eye makeup done for dances and stuff. Now I can slap on eyeliner and shadow in like two minutes.

I have this same issue. What I found that helps me is that I use a cotton swab to hold down my lashes/eyelid while I'm applying eyeliner. I also tip my head back a bit, so I can get really close to the lashline.

My twin has very twitchy eyes and I have to help him apply eyeliner because of that. What I do is that I hold down his eyelids by the lashes and then just draw. It works well and I do the same when I apply eyeliner on myself.

I've been wearing contact lenses for years and I can touch my eyeballs without blinking, so maybe it's really just practice?
(Curiously enough I still get twitchy when other people want to apply eye make-up to me o_O) |

Definitely look down into a mirror. I used to be so twitchy too, but when I started looking down in a mirror, all started to go smoothly. Also, if you are new to it, it's best using a pencil or something sturdy to work around the eyelashes if you use eyeliner. Liquid or pencil works nice.

Got to love commissioning! Thanks everyone!! Serious thanks to Dulcinea, who actually made the deadline for the accessories far in advance and of outstanding quality. Sucks they won't be used. |
