2. Tapion's Ocarina from DragonBallZ.

4.Vincent Valentine's Gauntlet Glove from Final Fantasy VII.

Timeline: April-August. Five Months (Considerably quick considering how many props they were!)

Describe your Experience: I found Ashley through an advertisement that she had placed in Cosplay.com's Marketplace. I was looking for a professional prop commissioner, someone who would keep me updated, who had a great portfolio, and who knew how to make a variety of props and also considered your budget, it was there where I found her advertisement leading to her own website, and e-mailed her. Originally, I was worried that someone with such a great portfolio would be too busy to take such a huge order or would charge me an insane amount for the commission, I was incredibly pleased when she didn't only reply and accepted the commission, but her pricing was reasonable. She provided me with quotes and in that e-mail explained in DETAILED what she was going to do with each prop and how they were going to be made. There was a specific prop which she hadn't made before and to my surprise, she actually got some materials and began working with it, practicing, until she got the hold of which way would it be better to make it. This is something that I've never seen in the commissioning world...so I was hooked! She is a very busy commissioner, she even told me that this has been her busiest year, so don't expect weekly replies or updates about the process of your commission, unless you ask for them. I know that this is something that most commissioners worry about, trust me, I do too and with reason, but with her I didn't feel worried or concerned for the least bit. Ashley is a very professional and a very serious person when it comes to her work and her commissions. So I knew that my order was safe, I knew that I wasn't going to get scammed, and I knew that if for any reason I worried or wanted an update, I could contact her, ask for one, and she would ALWAYS reply. I set the Due Date for August, considering the commission was a big one and it would take a while to purchase and get all of the materials for each prop, we kept in contact monthly and when she began with the commissions, she sent me a picture on request of how it was coming along. She's a very friendly person, serious about her work, but friendly and honest. She keeps her orders organized and has a book where she writes you in once you pay the upfront half, she also let's you know when she receives your payment. She is considerate enough to accept payment installments, especially with my order that was so big, and considers your budget!

Pros: Speedy replies, professional, serious about her work and her commissions, but also friendly and a sweetheart to work with. An honest commissioner and a very informative person, she will describe the process, what materials she will use for it, how she will make it, all before you make the payment and early on. Once the part of the payment is sent, she will put you in a book, where she will update once she begins working on your commission. She will send you pictures about the process on request and will explain how it's coming along or if any difficult arises. The quality of her work is top notch and the best I've ever seen in a Prop Commissioner. She provided me with a Tracking Number. Will commission her again!

Cons: 0, NONE

Final Grade: A+++ (Infinite +s)

Name of Commissioner: AnnaG, Anna Glowacki.
Website: anna@annagcostumes.com
Character commissioned: Vash the Stampede Full Cosplay (With Gloves and Boots Included!)
Series: Trigun
Links to pictures of your commissioned item: http://s1063.photobucket.com/albums/...Anna%20Trigun/
Timeline: Less than a month! Very fast!

Describe your Experience: This is my second commission with Anna and just as before...she never fails to amaze me! This commission is actually very dear to my heart, because it was a gift to my girlfriend who LOVES the character to bits, so it's a very sentimental piece and Anna took this into consideration early on. We began discussing this commission before I even commissioned her on the first (Tapion) one. (You can see the review of that one here: http://www.cosplay.com/showpost.php?...ostcount=2440). As you know this costume is very detailed and she established not only a contract, but an installment of payments to guide ourselves by. I have an injury in one of ankle, so I needed to try on the boots before I could send them to her to make sure they didn't bother me, and she was alright with that and allowed me to ship them over, so she could work on them. Her pricing is reasonable and the dedication and detail put into each and every one of her pieces is something to highly consider when commissioning her! She KNOWS the business, she's PROFESSIONAL and TALENTED, and she's AMAZING! I recommend her to anyone looking for a high quality cosplay, a professional seamstress, and someone who will keep you updated and reply quickly to any of your questions. She's a sweetheart to work with and I will commission her for even more cosplays in the future! (I should also note that anyone looking for boots and hat commissions, she's the person to go to! She's expanding her work to those areas and she won't disappoint!)

Pros: Pictures were sent on request, met with the due date, worked quickly, excellent communication, speedy replies, her background as a theater costumer is something to highly consider, she's VERY professional, she knows the craft very well, and offers payment methods. She also gives you every type of contact information and a contract, and is a sweetheart to work with! VERY polite, very kind. I recommend her to anyone who wants to have a professional costume made. She shipped the package on Express Mail and included cute little flyers of her business, a nice detail. The cosplay was nicely folded and arrive here in perfect condition. She also provided me with the Tracking Number.

Cons: 0, NONE

Series: DragonBallZ
Links to pictures of your commissioned item: http://lunaladyoflight.deviantart.co...agon-330714825
Timeline: Less than a Month. Incredibly fast!

Describe your Experience: This is my second commission with Luna and she does NOT disappoint! She is very talented in her craft and she does some wonderful wig work with very detailed styles and really makes you envision! It's a mohawk wig, which in itself it's pretty difficult, and not a lot of people know how to style. The wig is beautiful and is one of the most professional wig jobs I have seen! She will always reply immediately to you, she will inform when the wigs arrives, and she will choose the colors with you and give you her recommendation! Not only that, she also provided me with a "Wash and Care" Instruction for the wig! Which is something rarely seen in the commissioning world! I am in love with the wig and I will definitely commission her again!

-Provides Tracking Number.
-Speedy replies
-Professional (Responsible and confident)
-Met with the due date.
-An honest commissioner and a very informative person, she will describe the process and the way the money is being used.
-Luna also let's you know when she's purchased the wig.
-Has an In-Progress page in her tumblr that updates regularly.
-She provided me with information about the wigs she was using and sent me a picture so I could see the length of the wig, pick which one I wanted, and she also provided her suggestion on which one she thought would look best with the reference pictures that I gave her.
-She's honest and told me which wigs she felt confident doing.
-Pricing is reasonable
-Sends pictures
-Notifies when the item was shipped.
-Oh and she also includes toupee clips in the wigs!

Cons: 0, NONE

Name of Commissioner: Destiny’s Ending
Website: www.destinysending.com, www.designsbyalanna.com, http://www.facebook.com/pages/Destinys-Ending
cosplay.com: DestinysEnding, http://www.cosplay.com/member/861
Character commissioned: fem!Prussia from Axis Powers Hetalia: Jacket and shirt.
Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: Never received a picture.
Timeline: Paid in March.

Describe your experience. Pros, cons, comments:
I contacted Destiny’s Ending in March 2012 looking for her to do a fem!Prussia cosplay. All I needed was the jacket and shirt. We agreed on a price and materials as well as a deadline (first week of August) and she said I would receive the occasional photo update. On March 25th, I sent her the whole payment (oh, to be young and innocent again). She let me know that she had received it and that she would start making the pattern. On April 5th, I asked her if it would be possible to add pockets and she said that she would need to order the additional fabric for it. I sent that payment and she let me know that she received it. Between April and June, I would periodically send her a message asking how things were going and she was very quick to respond, telling me she would be starting soon. The last message from this period was that my fabric was here and the pattern was cut and that she would keep me updated. After this, I received no contact whatsoever. I was a little concerned but was busy with other things, so I didn’t think too much of it until the second week of August and I had received no communication from her and I saw her listed on the now defunct Blacklisted thread. I messaged her on August 10 via cos.com asking how things were coming along. I also sent an additional email (prior to this our communication was through cosplay.com) on the 11th asking about the status of it, whether she had pictures, and when she would be done with it. She responded two days later telling me that she had been sick and had fallen behind, but she was working on getting things done. She tells me that she will have it done soon. We keep emailing each other and she keeps telling me that I would receive pictures soon. On August 27, she tells me that she’s been in and out but progress is being made and she would send pictures ASAP. I get nothing after that. On September 7, I email her asking how things are coming along and telling her that I would like to have some pictures by Sunday night (Sept. 10). Again, I get nothing. Now my alarm bells start to go off, because I wanted to have my costume well before my convention (Nov. 9). On Sept 11 I sent her another email saying that I wanted pictures ASAP and that if my costume was not in my hands by Oct. 10 (one month before my con), I would contact my bank. Then she responds, telling me that its just her and she was still sick and that she would contact me when the jacket and shirt were ready to be sent out. I respond with I’m sorry she’s been sick but she’s missed my deadline and that I never received something that I was promised. On the 25th, I sent another email asking how things were going and that went unanswered. I messaged her again on October 2nd through email and facebook and again went unanswered. I sent another email on October 8, this time threatening to go to the bank. She responds the next day, saying that my emails have been going into her spam and that I would get pictures “tomorrow.” The only thing I get is an inbox full nothing. I messaged her twice (11th and 12th) asking about pictures. On the 14th I send another message pretty much repeating myself about the bank and leaving a negative review. She responds, telling me her internet has been shut off and that pictures will be received by “tomorrow afternoon.” I respond and tell her that if I didn’t get them by that evening, I was asking for a refund. The next evening, I received a partial refund of $40. I was confused, thinking she was just going to refund me since I did not get pictures. I emailed her asking about the remainder and she said she was still going to do it and that pictures would come shortly. That was on October 15th. It is now October 18th and I still don’t know anything about my costume other than the fabric is here and that the pattern is cut. I’ll be going to the bank tomorrow as well as filing a complaint with the BBB.

Final grade: F, avoid her like the plague.

Illinafli Review

Name of Commissioner: Illinafli
Website/C.com gallery: http://www.cosplay.com/member/216010 http://www.illina.deviantart.com
Character commissioned and series/video game (please include if this was the entire costume, just a jacket, prop, accessory, wig, etc.): A pastel rainbow braided wig.
Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: I never got it.
Timeline (how long your order took to process): I never got it, I was told I would get it about two weeks after she finished.
Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments:

This was a horrific experience. I commissioned a wig from her way back in April with the promise of it being done and on its way to my house in about 5 weeks. It started out fine, she gave me a date, a price, and communicated with me whenever I checked in. Once I payed her she said the it might take longer than the original estimate. Then suddenly two months in, she's gone. I couldn't get a hold of her. At first I thought she was busy or she wasn't on Cosplay.com, but I saw she was online but avoiding me. I was horrified when I looked up her name and saw that she had other customers going through the same thing.

When I attempted to work something out with her by opening a dispute on PayPal, it had been long after the 45 day period. I fully believe she did this purposely so that I couldn't get my money back. Overall I would definitely not recommend Illinafli, she will take your money with the promise of a wig. For your own sake, don't trust this seller. If you have ordered something from Illinafli, open a dispute. The more people who report problems with her, the more likely PayPal will do anything about it.

costume (the tape pieces were temp just to show progress)

Timeline (how long your order took to process): about one and a half months.

Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments.:
This is the third costume I've gotten from her. Every time I have worked with her she's been extremely responsive. She's always made costumes of amazing quality (most people comment on the quality of the sewing). Always extremely accurate to the costume. I've never had a worry about accuracy or it not being done in time. She tries to work with / make the costume come out how you want and isn't shy to ask for clarification about things / show progress (which is always nice as you know how things are going and gives you the ability to add input). Never had an issue with the final product, or the process. I would definitely work with her again (as I've already used her three times now).

Pros: She was wonderful she message back quickly, even discussed the details of what I was having made. Sending me link it gems, bracelets and so on that I could pick from. Once everything was order she kept me up to date when things would be coming in and when they did. As she was making it I got regular updates on what she was doing and when it would be close to being finished. Got a message when it was sent in the mail and it came within a week.

Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments.
She started out great even letting me pick the shade of purple that I was needing for my wig. The quote was a reasonable price but I probably should have noticed that it was also a bit low for a wig that I was looking for. (a base wig and a clip on ponytail) I stopped receiving message when she told me that the wig was going to be at her house the following day this was in July. After a while she disappeared and I tried to give her space but people started popping up on her facebook demanding their money back. I messaged her nicely about how my wig was coming along but never heard another.

After a couple of weeks of talking to other people that were scammed she pops up on here as active but I never got an answer. Weeks after I wen the message she sent me a message saying that she was sending my wig out (9/19) haven't heard from her since nor have I received my wig. I would not suggest her to anyone.

Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments:

At first I was very iffy about ordering from them. I have heard bad experiances from them but I really loved the one wig they had on it. So I purchased it for $18 and free shipping. I thought if it was horrible it was only $18 and not $50.

When my wig came in I was very surprised! It looked almost exactly like the picture. The curls are really beautiful, they keep there shape and haven't flattened or anything. The only things I didn't like is that it is a bit to thin on some parts but its hard to tell (just a nit pick), the bangs look funny (which I can fix) and the wig was WAY to small (which again, easy fix with just a bit of elastic sewn in and it fits wonderfully now!)

I dont know if I will purchase again from them but it was a good first experience.

Name of Commissioner - CosplayMandy

Website/C.com gallery - http://cosplaymandy.deviantart.com/ -- http://www.cosplay.com/showthread.php?t=284222 -- http://s530.photobucket.com/albums/dd347/cosplaymandy/

Character commissioned - Starkiller / Vader's Apprentice from the video game, The Force Unleashed

Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item -

Timeline - 10 Weeks

Pros - Mandy was great. My outfit was exactly what I was hoping for. The pieces were all excellent quality, were accurate to her measurements, and will last me a long time. I am quite satisfied with her results and I will return to her again for my next cosplay without a doubt.

Cons - I don't feel any cons were present working with Mandy. Some people might be interested in a faster turn around, but with the amount and quality of work that was put into my cosplay really made it worth the wait. (Plus she beat her timeline estimate). Just be proactive and don't wait till the week before your con. :P

Comments - Communication with Mandy was great. If there were any grey areas, she was sure to ask me for clarification and made sure it was spot on with my expectations. There were a few items of my cosplay I was not sure of, and she made some excellent suggestions on improvements that I didn't even originally consider, but ended up strengthening the look I was hoping for.

My personal pictures are all really bad, but it looks EXACTLY like in their pictures!
Timeline (how long your order took to process): Ordered end of August2011, recieved early October2011, well before my deadline of Halloween2011.
Describe your Experience:
Pros: Everything! The customer service was wonderful, Venus answered a lot of questions for me before I ordered, and I received my order well before the date I requested. The costume was great quality, and the wig was LOVELY- felt super nice, and came COMPLETELY tangle free.
Cons: Waist belt didn't quite fit right, and skirt clasp was a bit tight, but I'm pretty sure that was my own fault for bad measurements, so I'm not going to dock them for that; it was my own mistake, and easy to get around.
Final Grade: A+. I HIGHLY recommend them!

I just had a great commission experience and wanted to share it here!
Name of Commissioner: Chokichi aka cosplaymandy commissions
She can be found at the following links
Character commissioned: Rhuby Rhod from 5th element (bodysuit only)
Timeline: 2 months as commissioner was overseas at the time(wait time was more than acceptable)
I first contacted Mandy in July. I attend a couple large costume party's every year for Halloween and wanted to be sure I had ample time to prepare. I had looked through some of her work and decided I would contact her for a commission. From the very beginning till the end she was always prompt on getting back to me and worked hard to help me create the vision I had of the complete outfit. She was always very informative in her reply's. We quickly decided what was to be commissioned and payment was made. I will admit I was slightly skeptical at first about the transaction, at the time Mandy was working overseas in Asia; It turned out to be a foolish thought though. The wait was 2 months, but this was absolutely expected and acceptable. I received my costume with over a month to spare. There was absolutely not one hickup in my transaction with Mandy, everything was smooth and pleasant which made for a very enjoyable experience. I will have complete trust in Mandy's skill and will gladly look forward to commissioning her again in the future. I would give an A+ but costume did arrive a little short in the legs. I cannot say if that was her fault or the fault of myself due to possibly providing improper measurements. I would say I am the novice here so i likely screwed up, But nothing stopped me from achieving my first place costume prizes!
