The Toronto Cosplay Beach Party Gathering! – Saturday July 11 @ 12 p.m.

FACEBOOK EVENT PAGE: https://www.facebook.com/events/1613262975608869/

NOTE: In case of heavy rain or inclement weather forecast on the day of the event, the RAIN CHECK DATE will be Sunday July 12th (the following day).

Ever wanted to wear a swimsuit cosplay or beach anime cosplay, but either didn’t feel right wearing it at a con or during our cold weather? Well, the The Greater Toronto Area Cosplay Hangout Group - CHG and カワイイベース Kawaii Bass are teaming up to bring you a special kind of cosplay event. This coming July, we are holding a TORONTO COSPLAY BEACH PARTY GATHERING! Enjoy a warm, sunny afternoon on the beach with your fellow cosplayers, get your photos taken and get ready to party with our live music and various activities on the beach!

For those that haven't been to a cosplay gathering before, if you enjoy the Anime, video game or comic book subcultures, then you'll have quite the enjoyable time at a cosplay picnic! It's an event where cosplayers together for an afternoon in a tranquil park to socialize and have fun. For many, cosplay picnics are an opportunity to see their friends again, since big conventions are spread far throughout the year. For newcomers, it's a way to meet new friends. So whether you're new to cosplaying or a veterman, cosplay picnics are fun for everyone!

We will be at Woodbine Beach in Toronto for our first ever cosplay beach party in the city!

Here's what to look forward to:

*A place to meet new friends, as well as hangout with some familiar ones. If you are new to the scene and need someone to break the ice, just look for the CHG hosts in name tag and we'll introduce you to some cosplayers. It'll be easy to find us!

*LIVE music by Kawaii Bass that will get you in the PARTY mode on the beach!

*Otaku dance contest – show us your moves on the beach and you could win a prize.

*Photographers to take your pictures in your cosplay. The beaches in Toronto are beautiful in the summer and this event is a great time to get some wonderful photos taken.

*Cosplay Volleyball – Form a team from the same anime/fandom (e.g. Free!, One Piece, Final Fantasy) and compete in a fun game of beach volleyball!

*Scavenger Hunt Summer Edition - form a team and embark on a quest to complete the scavenger hunt. You'll be doing fun and amazing things such as taking group selfies, singing Anime tunes and finding hidden treasures on the beach. The team who places first will get a prize!

*A variety of board games for attendees to play, including Cards Against Humanity.

*Watermelon smashing on the Beach - you get to eat the watermelon after it's all smashed and "cut" up!

*The Amazing Race - Cosplay Edition!

There is free parking along the residential areas near the beach, as well as paid parking lots. The beaches tend to get busy during the weekend, so be sure to arrive early to get a parking spot!

1. Due to city park bylaws, we cannot have any large props or weapons in the park. Please leave them at home and save the props/weapon replica for the many conventions taking place during the summer!

2. No alcohol consumption in the park.

3. Please pick up after yourself. If you make a mess, you must clean up your mess. Throw all your garbage in the trash, etc.

4. When you're playing with the board games, please keep them in good condition and do not damage them in any way.

1. Any sword or sharp objects made out of metal, steel or strong material is not allowed at the event. (Foam or plastic swords are allowed).

2. No projectiles are allowed (eg BBguns, soft rifles, shurikens)

3. If you're bringing a toy gun, place either an orange tip or orange tape to make it clear that it's a replica and not a real weapon!

Please be responsible with your props and weapons, especially with the general public. If we have to deal with any issues with weapons from an authority (eg security guard or police) during the event, we will ban weapons/props for future events. However, we know you guys want the best for your cosplays, so that's why we're allowing some items to be brought to our event.

The Cosplay Beach Party is FREE or pay-what-you-can. A $5 donation to help pay for things such as the watermelons, prizes and future CHG events would be appreciated, but not necessary.
