Transistor sword

Hey guys, me again!

So I'm making the Transistor sword: https://media.playstation.com/is/image/SCEA/transistor-listing-thumb-01-ps4-us-22may14?$Icon$

And I need advice, there are many different ways to make this sword, there are tutorials but unfortunately they require things that are expensive and use tools I don't have access too. SO that being said, I have two swords I like the look of easily and would love to hear other opinions on how to go about imitating them

So I have the plexiglass, not sure how to create the middle grid system thing? I was thinking of using thick EVA foam, I have 8mm thick (I believe). I was thinking two layers, with a place carved out for a dowel rod or pvc pipe. I'd have to glue the eva foam to the plexiglass, which I think people use weld on #16? and I'd use strip leds to make it glowwww

2) http://vicont-duke.tumblr.com/post/1...i-finished-him
I like this one because it looks SO MUCH EASIER LOL but not sure how to CREATE the thickness without having eva foam in the center? I'm not sure. Advice on how to go about that would be amazing!

Thanks for all your help! I'm biting off a lot with this prop so I really need the advice xD

You can get EVA foam in thick pieces, I think that's what the second one is. I have a set of floor mats for blocking knitting, but they are 1/2" thick EVA.

My Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/penlowe I make non-fitted custom things to ship within the continental US. I only do fitted garments for those whom I can meet in person.

Sorry, but what exactly would I use the EVA foam for in regards to the second prop? I think she used plexiglass for the body, but I'm not sure how to get the thickness I'd need to add led lights in the center

I think she made a box of plexiglass. So cut maybe 1/2"-1" strips and glued them between the wider piece for the sides []
