How to make sunglasses lens glow/appear to glow?

Heya cosplay forumgoers!

Does anyone have any simple to medium difficulty solutions on how to make a sunglasses lens glow [w/ some form of lights] or appear to glow [other alternatives]? I'm taking a pair of sunglasses and wanting just the right lens to glow red with me still being able to see out of them.

I want the right lens to have the image of an eye like this and the red being the glowing part [with the pupil centered]: http://imgur.com/a/Qi7RR

I've glanced at a few tutorials on LED's and EL panel cutting but I'm kind of also lost on how I could hide the battery with those options...

Thanks, Zero

I know nothing of electronics. You might try asking in the Prop and Armor sub-forum as there are more folks there who do things with electricity.

What you are looking for was actually made a couple years back. Google "Glospex", they aren't made any longer but there is a chance you may be able to find a pair for sale somewhere. Not sure how they worked exactly but I will be trying to do the same thing you are in the helmet for my space marine armor, I have a bunch of material for experimenting with, I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Maybe run the cords for the EL components along the inside of the sunglasses earpiece, and hide the actual battery pack in a wig or just inside the back of the collar?
