Character commissioned and series/video game: Yuzuki Yukari from Vocaloid

Timeline (how long your order took to process): Over 1.5 years

Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments:
Fed up with crummy Chinese costumes, I took it upon myself to find an individual whom I could commission. After looking around on here I eventually found someone I thought I could work with. The deadline was tight (only about a month) but I was assured it could be met. I paid a $100 deposit, and we agreed I would pay the rest once I received the costume.
Long story short, she missed deadline after deadline, and I foolishly kept trusting her words that she'd have it done by the next time (all the while she kept taking and finishing other commissions!) and a year and a half later I still have no costume and I cannot get in contact with her when I've finally gotten fed up and requested a refund. A very frustrating experience.

I may as well have stayed with Chinese commissioners - at least they deliver or refund!

Final Grade: F

Name of Commissioner Chergnomebyl Props

Character commissioned and series/video game Syaoran Li's sword and sheath from Cardcaptor Sakura and Bee's space sword from Bee and Puppycat
Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item Syaoran's sword, Bee's space sword (don't mind the green paper underneath the prop. It's just there to distinguish the pink sword from my pink carpet haha)
Timeline Commissioner was first contacted on Thanksgiving day. The first half of payment was sent the day after. There were a few orders before mine, so those were taken care of first. However, work on both swords was just about done around the end of January. They were sent out around February 17/18 due to bad weather conditions. I just received them today (Feb. 21st). My original deadline was March 5th. So these arrived well before then
Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments. Chergnomebyl was very nice to work with. They were actually doing a holiday special in which I could get an additional free prop if I commissioned within the holiday season. It was definitely something I couldn't pass up. I had gotten Syaoran's sword commissioned for Anime Boston because I knew I wouldn't be able to find time to do it myself. And I also managed to get my sister's space sword for her Bee and Puppycat costume done as well. They were very prompt with replying back to my messages and were very easy to talk to. I kind of wish I could have seen more progress pictures while the props were being made, but I do understand that I never asked them for any and they were not obligated to provide me with them. I was shown pictures when they were finished, so that was fine The weapons themselves are a lot lighter than they look, which definitely helps with material and shipping costs. They were also sent to me via 2 day priority, so they got to my house very quickly. It was a really nice gesture

Final Grade: A

Name of Commissioner: Cosplay House
Website/C.com gallery: cosplayhouse.com
Character commissioned and series/video game: Sora's crown necklace (Kingdom Hearts)
Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: The product as it appears on their site, which looks exactly as the product I got. Right down to the weird texture on the chain.
Feb 26: Ordered
Feb 27: Order confirmation + process confirmation
Mar 1: Shipped, received a tracking number
Mar 7: Arrived

Describe your experience: I know, it's Cosplay House, you may now revoke my internet shopping privilegie card. However, their reviews on here mainly concern costumes and wigs, and you'd have to fail pretty hard to mess up on simply taking a clearly mass-produced necklace and put it in an envelope. The only thing I was particularly worried about was never hearing back from them or the good ol' "whoops your package was lost in the mail, too bad" shtick, but fortunately that didn't happen. It arrived way faster than I'd anticipated, considering they list props/accessories usually taking 5-7 weeks.

Final Grade: A+

Better Pictures to come soon

Timeline: May.25th,2013 - Mar.11th,2014

Describe your Experience: I had found out about her through DeviantArt at - http://mrsgnob.deviantart.com/ which took me awhile how to find out how I could get a hold of her cause her work I seen was amazing.

When I was finally able to contact her through G-Mail we talked I asked her about if she did commissions and which ones I wanted which where 3 dresses at the time I asked for she started on Princess Sakura from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle since we both figured it would take the longest.

After my first payment towards her she started working on it her progress was amazing since she was on holidays from work we both kept in regular contact with each other even when she went back to work she let me know ahead of time that she wouldn't be able to work on the dress as much.

Now that it's arrived she is taking a much needed break and is also getting married which I wished her a big congrats on and then I asked her if we could continue after her wedding and honeymoon where done and she said "As long as I wore the dress or loved it that we could continue"

She is a little hard to understand since she's Russian so it takes a bit of understanding to understand what either of us are trying to say but we have gotten through it

Pros: Looked at fabric right away, Saw the fabric choices and was able to choose between all of them, Was Always kept up to date, As soon as she got to work right away the progress was done so fast but really amazingly well done, Packaged so well with static paper on both sides so the dress or anything wouldn't get ruined.

Cons: Only compliant that I have is that there was no latch hock at the top of the zipper to zip it up easier but I could easily grab one at the fabric store and carefully sew it in place only using the inside of the dress fabric not the outside.

Item purchased: Estelle, Tales of Vesperia costume. It came with a pink petal dress, an overdress, boots, gloves, and a shield.

Links to picture(s) of your received item: I wrote a longer review on my personal blog, so you can find the pictures here.

Timeline (how long your order took to process): I ordered the cosplay on January 17th and received it the last week of February.

Describe your Experience: The costume looks great and is a very high quality, but the shop doesn't have very good communication. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt because I ordered right before Chinese New Year and I knew they would be going on vacation for long while.

Final Grade: B-

Character commissioned and series/video game: 2 wigs: 1 Claudia in Silver and 1 Greta in Pumpkin
Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item:
I can't right now, I'll upload some soon.
Timeline (how long your order took to process):
Bought: 21 February
Shipped: 1 March
Received: 17 March
Comments, pros and cons:
To start off, the reason that it took so long to ship is that I bought it during a huge sale, I completely understand that and I wasn't in that huge of a rush to get them any way. They also warned everyone about it, which was nice. I had originally intended to buy a Pure White Eowyn instead of the Silver Claudia I ended up getting, but they were out of stock (again, completely reasonable because of the sale). When they arrived I was in awe, the site pictures don't do them justice, they are even prettier in real life. Despite not being overly cautious I'm yet to have any horrible amount of tangling, and only lost one hair that I have noticed.
The Greta:
I would have rather gotten a wig that I didn't have to straighten, but it's heat resistant so I'll manage. It's a little bit shorter and darker than I had anticipated, but it looks great and will still serve its purpose (and I actually like the darker colour better any way).
The Claudia:
Again, I would have preferred a wig that I didn't have to straighten, but other than that it was perfect, so I don't mind. The colour is gorgeous and I am rather disappointed that I have to straighten the gorgeous curls.

Name of Commissioner: Janet Marshall
Website/C.com gallery: She had a cosplay gallery/post in the marketplace but it is now gone after this experience.
Character commissioned and series/video game (please include if this was the entire costume, just a jacket, prop, accessory, wig, etc.): Deanna Troi (Star Trek:TNG)Red outfit
Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: Will include later
Timeline (how long your order took to process): 2 weeks, 1 week shipping.
Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments. : She was really lovely to speak to, she always responded fast and in a respectful way. She made it under my budget.
But when she sent the pictures I was really disappointed, she used a wool instead of a thinner uniform fabric. But I let it go because it still looked nice.
I received it and was dissapointed again, she made the legs 22 inches instead of 27, and the arms 20 instead of 22. I can't wear the costume and have to scrap the whole costume and start with a new commissioner.
Final Grade: D- she was nice to talk to but obviously didn't know what she was doing.

Comments, pros and cons:
Describe your experience:

I found her when she first commented on a commission ad I posted on this site. I saw some of her work which was gorgeous, so I soon got a quote and carried through it.
When we first discussed payments she was very flexible and understanding which was a great help. She's patient and easy to work with.

Throughout the whole experience she was lovely to speak with, very understandable and helpful ( when it came to fabric choices in my case). She responded relatively fast and respectfully. She also informed me when each piece of the outfit was done, and sent me pictures when I asked.

The outfit arrived extremely fast which was great. They were packed nice and neatly. When I took them out I saw only 1 minor flaw, where there was some stitching missing on the white stripe on the bottom of the sweater. I can easily fix that though, other then that there were no issues.

I highly recommend her for good, quality work.

Final Grade: A+
Upcoming Cons:

Character commissioned and series/video game: Kid Loki; Journey Into Mystery

Links to picture(s) of your commissioned item: Never received a single picture.

Timeline (how long your order took to process):
July 2012 - we made contact, talking about the deadline and how much it would cost to make it. Everything is all good, I sent the first half before I go on a trip to P.R. with my dad.

September 2012 - This is the first deadline, which isn't made. Even after having contacted several times to ask about the progress, I only get told that my costume will be worked on soon after one or two commissions. I'm told they can't finish it yet, so I tell them to finish in October.

October 2012 - Deadline is yet again missed, but I'm told the costume is finished except the gold bits of the costume. I tell her to just ship it out since It's so close to the convention I had commissioned this for but she says she can't go out due to the hurricane that was traveling there. (This was the hurricane that missed Florida, and traveling upwards towards the upper states.) And even after it stops, I get the "It's raining" comments.

November 2012 - I'm freaking out because my costume is still not here, and just tell her to send it immediately and she says she will but then the day of the con she says that she couldn't send it out. Around this time I was making the armor/gold bits myself since she hadn't worked on them and I was so disappointed since I wanted to wear that to my convention. This is also the time where she says she can't go due to a surgery she had to do.

January 2013 - My birthday is rolling in and I beg for her to please send me the costume, and give me a tracking number. I manage to do it after all while, but when I get the tracking number it says nothing about the movements of the package, just gives you a message saying that it doesn't mean the buyer sent it out, but that they got the tracking number. I ignore that thinking USPS is being weird but really- what should I expect but disappointment as I get no package on my birthday.

February 2013 - I tell her I get nothing, and she asks me to wait longer but I tell her I'm sick of waiting and I just want my costume. Which by the way, she NEVER send me pictures of it anytime I asked for the pictures. She gave me her phone number once and I messaged her there when she said she would send me pictures. Nope. No pictures. Also, around this time I ask for a refund but I'm told she can't do one yet, but she could re-make the costume for me.

April 2013 - I think this is the time I actually decide to re-message her about the re-make and ask her if she can, which she says yes. But at the same time, after that there is nothing about her working on it even when I message her once more a month before the next con I go to.

Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments:

I don't think there is really much else to say besides decide yourself what you think of her. By now, she has said she won't do anymore commissions but I don't think she has much with how there are still people saying they have a commission with her. On the other hand, I WILL say she has always been a good person to talk to and always willing to answer questions about anything. Just It's a shame she let life get the best of her and prevent anyone from getting their commissions. Even the people who she has claimed she finished their cosplay, but just not had the time to ship. I've been holding back my review for the longest time due to her telling me I can't unless I have my costume- but It has been years. I've never seen my costume, let alone received it so I feel I have the right to let people know how unreliable she is as a commissioner.

Pros - Fast at replying, good person to chat with, helped with fabric choices.

Cons- unreliable at keeping her promises, and has a tendency to keep you waiting and waiting for a commission that isn't getting to you.

Final Grade: F
Convention List:
-AWA 2018
-Holiday Matsuri 2018
-Mega-con 2019

Character commissioned and series/video game (please include if this was the entire costume, just a jacket, prop, accessory, wig, etc.): Wilbell Voll Erslied from Atelier game series. I got the costume/outfit made up and also her broom weapon.

Timeline (how long your order took to process): October 2013-April 2014
Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments: I've commissioned others in the past and never had a good experience to be honest. The outfits always turn out to be very small and I nearly gave up until I stumbled upon mandy. After looking at her work on costumes and prop making I decided to commission her. I am VERY satisfied. This must be the first commission that ever went smoothly. For one the outfit works, the prop arrived safely. I didn't have to get rush delivery to my hotel because of her tardiness. I got my cosplay and prop 4 months pre-con, which is awesome. The materials she used on the costume is high quality, soft to the touch, and she pays attention to detail. The hat for the costume was a little small for my head but that is an easy fix as I probably am going to attach velcro to the wig and hat so that they both stay attached. The prop was amazing. Details is accurate and packaged really well. Overall she is now my go to commistop She stayed oop of it all the way through.
