Elf ear question and problem.

I hope I am posting this in the correct place. Seeing as it was more for cosmetic stuffs I thought this forum may be the best place to put it.

I am going to be cosplaying a character that requires me to wear elf ears. Normally I would not bother for this little detail, but he has short hair making the ears visible.

My problem is, this past October I got the courage to go and get an industrial piercing. What that is is a duel cartilage piercing that is connected by a bar. Now by the time of the con I will have only had it for 5 months which means I can not have it out, and I have to be careful of it to not get anything in it.
I was wondering how the elf ears work and if anyone with any higher cartilage piercings knew of ways to still wear the ears and keep their piercings in?

Also where is the best place to get any elf ears from? I looked on ebay, but am rather skeptical of them.

I think in your case, you would want to avoid the "stick on" elf ear tips, such as the ones sold by Aradani. It depends on the positioning of your piercing but my friend had a similar thing and I know that stick on elf ears would not fit the same over a bar.

Have you looked into the headband style ears? You do need some hair in front of your ears to conceal things but this would not bother your piercing either. Here is a link to the ears Yaya sells, and there are also big ears like for Lodoss elves. If neither style works, at least you have an idea of how to construct a pair.

You could also cut slits up the narrow sides of the ears to allow the jewelry balls to stick through. Then *very* carefully apply spirit gum to the front and back of the ears. Though it'd all depend on how healed your peircing feels-- if it's still tender to the touch, I'd go with the headband style ears.
