Need help with wings that sit on the hips please

Hello! This is my first time posting here, so I'm sorry if this is under the wrong topic...
I will cosplaying Star Guardian Soraka from League of Legends, and I am having some difficulty with making a support for her wings that come from her hips. My cosplay is strapless, so I have been trying to create something that straps around the waist so I can hide it under my shirt. So far I am using 1/2" PVC for the structure. I have been looking at other wing tutorials but most of them rely on a backpack-like structure as they come from the back. Need suggestions, any help appreciated.
Thank you!

This is WAY easier than you are making it out to be!

1/2" PVC sounds like serious overkill, you could be using 14 gauge wire to make wings that size and shape and do just fine. Especially since they aim down.

As to "straps around the waist" you are over thinking again, all you need is a good wide belt. I'd get an military surplus canvas one like this: https://www.armysurplusworld.com/ext...e-black-buckle
They are easy to cut to a shorter length and the buckle is reasonably smooth. Cotton will be more comfortable under clothes than vinyl. Bonus, it'll be reasonably easy to attach the wings to it if you switch to wire.

My Etsy shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/penlowe I make non-fitted custom things to ship within the continental US. I only do fitted garments for those whom I can meet in person.

Agree with everything Penlowe said. There are tutorials out there for making great-looking wings with a craft-wire frame and cellophane, foam, organza or other fabric. PVC pipe is overkill for wings of that size that hang down.

If the belt is snug at your waist, not your hips, you can add curvature to the wire so that the wings hang wide instead of straight down. ...but don't make them too wide or they'll hit everything and everyone in your path.

Thank you for your suggestion! I will probably do as you said! Much appreciated!

Thank you very much for you response! I will follow your belt suggestion! And thank you for linking me to an example belt! Much appreciated!
