Name of Merchant: Richair
Website: http://item.rakuten.co.jp/richair/c/0000000135/ *Japan only
Items purchased: Blonde MC-900 60% off for 2,500 yen, Medium layer ML-005 (blonde) and ML-107 (silver) both for 4,380 yen.
Links to picture(s) of your items recieved: Coming
Timeline (how long your order took to process): 1 week from payment to delivery.

I ordered three wigs from Richair through the shopping protal rakuten ~ I had hoped to use the pair of blonde wigs to replace our Kagamine Rin and Len Pricharas which had gone bare while taking advantage of the sale on the shorter wig. Grabbed a silver for my boyfriend's Rinnosuke costume in May too.

Pros: The order process, through rakuten, was pretty smooth. I paid via bank transfer through my Japanese bank account and had all of the shipping input pre-determined in my rakuten account. Pretty much 1-click shopping, woohoo!

The wigs arrived together, without a hitch, well-packed and in a small cardboard box with plenty of room to avoid being crushed.

Shipping was free and my transfer fee was 420 yen. Meaning in the end I got 3 new wigs for about 11,680 yen. Not awesome, but not bad.

The medium layers are quite textured and fun to play with. They have a lot of body and are designed to be spiked. As a result, they have no skintops or parts. Whether you like or hate that is really a matter of personal preference.

Each wig has a cloth strip near the front hairline to keep it from rubbing on or irritating skin. This is the first wig brand I I've used that offers such a thing and BOY is it appreciated! As someone who has actually BLED from a wig rubbing on a sensitive hairline, this is oh so very welcome!

The colors are few and standard but have good saturation and just enough shine to look like character wigs without looking terribly cheap.

Cons: The short wig is VERY short and in the end wasn't suitable for Rin. Instead, I'm using it for Masaomi Kida from Durarara! The entire costume was born from a desire to use this wig (which is -perfect- for it), so I suppose that's as much a compliment as it is an insult.

The pricing is pretty random and arbitrary. Not a week after I ordered the medium layers, their prices dropped to 3,855. That's a significant drop without a sale on and I felt rather screwed! The "retail prices" are also hilariously inflated, with prices in the 8,000-9,000 range the default in spite of the wig line being a fairly no-name brand on par with prichara (minus the style/color selection and coorporate support).

Final Comments: I'm satisfied with what I recieved but am not entirely convinced by their pricing scheme. Some wigs appear longer on their modelling heads than they do on human heads which can lead to length-dissappointments. Color and style selection is extremely limited but what colors and styles there are are attractive and useable. Scalp-shielding piece at the hairline is full of win.

Final Grade: A- I would rate them higher had I purchased the layers at their current price, but feel I was overcharged for wigs that are more appropriately priced now.
Basement Sale: Touhou: Mokou costume, clearfiles/shitajiki, NeoRomance/Angelique artbook, etc.

Name of Merchant: Cos Cute
Website: http://www.cos-cute.com/ *Japan only
Items purchased: Edward Elric costume from Fullmetal Alchemist.
Links to picture(s) of your items recieved: Here
Timeline (how long your order took to process): 5 days from order to delivery (I ordered an "in stock" item, most costumes must be special-ordered and take 1-2 months).

I needed an Edward costume for an upcoming group and couldn't wait for a custom without playing chicken with my deadline. Coscute happened to have an acceptable costume in-stock. Bingo!

Pros: Extremely complete costume (undershirt, shirt, pants, 2 piece belt, coat, gloves) with no obvious shortcuts taken. All pieces are well-made, materials show a refeshing amount of variety (the undershirt is stretch cotton, the belt is in convincing faux leather and the jacket is lined in satin while all of the main pieces are polyester with vinyl/enamel trim).

Symbols are clearly printed with no irregularities or errors. The fit is impeccable.

The collar looked higher in the display photo than it actual is IRL and I worried a bit about it. As it turns out, there was nothing to worry about. It looks great.

Cons: None.

Final Comments: 100% satisfied. Cos-cute is great. I got lucky on no-wait... but the costume isn't a rush-job in the least ^^

Final Grade: A+

Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments.

Nothing but pros! It is a pain in the ass to find reviews for anything other than Milanoo. No one was helpful when I asked around so I decided to take the risk.

Zentai-Zentai was easy to order from, shipping was fast and reasonable (And free shutter shades! WOO!) I got exactly what I wanted (though I have glasses so Zentai's aren't too much fun when walking around when you can't see 2 feet in front of you. Literally.) The white one is a bit harder to see out of. The black one was easy to see through even before I cut the eyes out.
It's also sooooo comfy!

None. Like, really. The white one was a little hard to see out of but that was an easy fit.

I had a wonderful experience with Lotahk! Everything was insanely fast, it shipped and arrived much sooner than expected. The fitting is great, custom made to my measurements, it is very comfortable to wear.
The quality is very nice, there are some loose threads and the buttons area bit tight, but other than that I can find no fault. There is a sewn-in pseudo-petticoat layer under the skirt that is a really nice detail, and the bow is really sturdy and nice to touch.
The communication was great, the seller's first language obviously isn't English but they're very clear. I bothered them quite a bit to find out time estimates and such, and they always replied promptly, fully answered my queries and were very nice.

Clea from ebay "Cleacn"

Name of Commissioner: Clea
Website: http://myworld.ebay.ca/cleacn/
Character commissioned: Luka Megurine (Sandplay) dress
Pictures: What I bought , what I received in description
Timeline: About 5-6 weeks ish
The eBay store is charming and contains seemingly super well-made, accurate, and BEAUTIFUL dresses and outfits from various series. Their eBay ratings are pretty darn high, and the eBay reviews often say "exactly like the picture," "fits nicely," and "beautifully constructed." I decided to take the risk and purchase their "Ruka Luxury Updated [Vocaloid] cosplay."

Their communication was nice and easy to understand. When I would email them, which was three times, they responded pretty much within 24 hours or so. They were polite and straight to the point. I was not aware of the "we have a lot of orders, making time is now 1-2 months" and I had to check online. Since that was majorly inhibiting my deadline, I simply told them my deadline and they put a rush order on it. It came in a giant cloth bag. We had to pick it up because it was express and could have been damaged in the mail. When it actually shipped, it was only 2-3 days!

The dress itself is well constructed. Here's the entire thing (on the floor). It has a built in petticoat, which I was really skeptical about, but it ended up being perfect and keeps it fluffed. It had quite a bunch of random threads and fuzzies on it, but I picked them all off. The bodice is very nice and has pearly details. It, unfortunately, had to be assembled. The gold details were not on the black bodice part. No Gold. The Iron-On gold swirly details were shipped in a small ziplock bag, along with the golden chain which is super long, the two blue gems (which are like hairclips), strings of pearls, and hairpins with nice rhinestones and pearls on them (all of these can be seen here and here!) The buttbow is perky but is only held on with two supplied pins. The chestbow is nice, but the dangly tails are serged with white thread, as well as the red, white and black stripes, which is a turn off. The arm sleeves are good and fit well. My most major problem with this dress is the purple part of the dress on the bottom. It's pretty much the only thing that is majorly different from the picture. Instead of being bubbly and raunched, it is bubbled in a way that the 'bubbles' look like petals. They're too even. The black tulle parts on the bottom are pieces, not one or two giant layers. I actually like it more.

All in all, it was a good buy. It's my prom dress as well, so I have to make major alterations on it (to be walkable and danceable). It's long just like the picture, and has long tulle pieces that drag.

Items purchased: Edward Elric's pocketwatch from Fullmetal Alchemist.
Links to picture(s) of your items recieved: coming
Timeline (how long your order took to process): about one week

As keen as I am on making accessories, I am no watchmaker. Time to call in a professional!

Pros: The item looks exactly as it appears in display photos. The size, color and design are all as-shown and the watch is quite lovely to look at. It makes for a pretty spiffy looking watch, cosplay accessory shelf-life aside and I'll use it for daily shennanigans too, because hey, it's cool and I'm an FMA geek.

The watch is in perfect working order and even arrived set to the proper time and already running. Well packaged and marked breakable, it was hand-delivered by courier. I paid when I recieved it (collect on delivery).

I opted for this particular watch over three dozen others because the design is raised and has a classy non-costumey look about it.

"Don't Forget 3 Oct 11" is engraved on the inside lid and the alchemic symbol shows on the watch face. There is an hour, minute and second hand. The back of the watch case has "fullmetal alchemist" engraved in it in English lettering.

Cons: It cost me about $70 at the end of the day. Granted, in Japan, that's not really saying much (everything is expensive here) but I did pass up a handful of cheaper, less classy alternatives that probably would have worked just as well. It's my own fault for wanting "the nice one". Given that it's a knock-off, it probably isn't worth the price-tag but it is a damnned well-done fake and I'm happy with it.

Final Comments: I got what I wanted quickly with no hassle. It's nice and it works. No complaints.

Is it possible to merge this post with my previous Epic cosplay rating? It is a follow-up.

After I posted the rating, I was contacted by Epic Cosplay because one of the members saw that I was unsatisfied. I received a refund for my shipping, as well as $14 back towards my wig purchase.

I also had a wig sent to my friend's house and two of our other friends sent it there as well. Well she received two of the wigs but never got mine. This ended up being back in Jan and I just found out about it because she only thought two wigs were ordered. We didn't check because we couldn't wear our cosplays to that con so we just didn't mess with them for a while.

Even though this was a while ago EC sent me another wig free of charge, and it was the right wig and very nice.

I would like to change their rating to a solid B.

Timeline: (you have to request early) it takes the average time; 2 weeks for wig to be ordered then arrive, + 1 week to style and luckily I live local so the pick-up was on the following weekend. Price is really good ($40), which is decent since the advantage is that it'll be custom-styled to the way you want.

Describe your Experience: Pros: I am quite satisfied that I picked their group as my first local wig stylist as well as good price! Friendly and patient, they did a stellar job on the styling, even follow my drawn diagrams and explain every detail. Their choice in wig was great too, the colour was rich and just the right type.

Cons: Not much at all. Only downside is mostly in email attachments. We only have a problem sending photos, luckily I was able to receive majority of the process photos.

Timeline (how long your order took to process): 20 minutes

I went into a shop in Akihabara and found this for 5% off. It was cute, it was complete and I bought it!

Pros: For what amounts to a bagged fetish-costume, it's damnned classy, accurate and complete down to including the buttons I'd need to fix the only accuracy issue myself. All of the underthings and accessories are included. Colors are bright and vibrant. The hat and hair tie both have color alternates included. The skirt is a full circle and the fabric is heavy-duty with no see-through spots visible when completely-worn (the white fabric does show colored undergarments when worn alone, though no more than any other white garment sold at retail).

It fits nicely for me, though I'm usually a Japanese L and this "M" is really a "one size fits most" M far closer to a large. Mia has since expanded their sizing scheme a bit, but I think they still run a bit large.

One thing that makes me VERY happy about mia is that they support men's sizing. In the Touhou community, that's a huge plus and I have to pat them on the back for not being dicks about pricing the men's costumes significantly higher or making them custom-only. Good show.

Cons: Smaller people might be troubled by the one-size-fits all "M" sizing and real mediums may wonder why it hangs on them like a tent...

The hat's a bit floppy on the brim and could use a bit more perk.

Buttons on the blouse must be added manually, which could be trouble for someone who doesn't sew.

It's difficult to judge costume quality and color from the website. Photos have the contrast and brightness pumped to the point that it's impossible to see details or what the costume will look like on a cosplayer rather than a softcore porn idol who isn't bothering with a wig ^^;;; On the up-side, this leads to mostly pleasant surprises when the costumes finally reach your hands: they look nicer on you than they do on mia's site... maybe that's the point?

Final Comments: A lovely and very complete costume that looks far more expensive and classy on a real human being than it does on the fetish model on the website. miacos has pricing and sizing issues and may not be the classiest of the retailers, but it does make a damned good budget costume. I'd have paid twice what I paid for this and still have been happy. It's that complete and looks that nice on ^____^

Final Grade: A

Out of the bag shots WITHOUT flash:

Timeline (how long your order took to process): Bought March 29th, shipped in another day or two, arrived today April 7th. Just over a week.
Describe your Experience.:
After having trouble with Cyperous's website and customer service, I decided to say screw it and try a cheaper ebay wig for my Kagura cosplay, since prestyled wigs for her are so plentiful (and I was having second thoughts on blowing $100+ after shipping on a wig I wasn't sure I'd wear for more than one costume). I decided to go with this one since several sellers seemed to carry this same stockpic/product, the seller had good feedback, and this was the cheapest listing ($26 w/ free ship). The wig was sent with the base wig in one package, the detachable buns in another, and a free wignet.

The fibers are your typical Chinese heat resistant fibers- on the downside, fibers are waxy/slippery and shiny especially under flash (though no moreso than say New Look or Cosworx's old wigline), and sometimes shed; on the upside they're very soft and easily-brushable. The styling and color is completely accurate to the stock photo, down to the buns being separately pieced (which was my number one concern with prestyled Kagura wigs, as sometimes sellers glue the buns onto the base wig) so that I could clip my buncovers over the pigtails. The wig is thick with a very roomy wigcap, almost a bit too roomy for my small head (there is quite a lot of space leftover in the back skinpart/nape). The only problem I have with the wig is that there are some spots along the hairline where the cap/netting is exposed a bit, like where the pigtails being pulled up and the bangs being let down meet.

Overall, definitely a good deal.

Links to picture(s) of your received item Hansel Jett Long Clip Ponytail
Here's the Jett wig after it was styled and trimmed for a Kurosaki Ichigo wig: LINK

Timeline (how long your order took to process) Ordered on March 9th, wigs were sent on the 14th, and received them on the 21st. So within 1-2 weeks.

Describe your Experience.
- The wigs are really nice and thick. It's easy and smooth to comb through. I was excited to start styling the wigs!

- Customer service is great. I originally bought a Magnum Long(black) wig as well, only to be told that it was out of stock. The information was given to me immediately and the appropriate amount of money was refunded back to me This might explain why there was a short delay on the wig shipping, but I'm just glad I was notified quickly on this!

Cons Very minor, but the smaller wefts/shorter length fibers are a bit coarse, but not so much that it bothers me.

Comments. Great wigs AND great service. I've heard so many good things about Arda Wigs so I thought I'd give them a try and it's true---they don't disappoint me! Definitely recommend them to anyone and will buy from them again

Looks like it does on the site, only the site's pictures are a little washed out and the actual product has brighter colors.
Timeline (how long your order took to process): Order placed on March 1st. Shipped on April 9th. Arrived on April 11th.
Describe your Experience. Pros, Cons, Comments. They get points for communication. Even though their English isn't the best, they respond to inquiries right away and are pretty nice, and when I expressed concern that it was taking a long time and I thought I might not get them in time, they assured me I would. The next day they sent me pictures to make sure I was happy with the color. I said it was fine and go ahead and ship it, and got the costumes two days later. The finished product is.....well, could be worse, could be better. Mine is way too tight around the chest, I'm practically going to have to bind to get it to fit comfortably. It fits fine everywhere else, but the chest is so tight, the top button popped off as soon as I put it on. (The buttons were sewn on with tiny amounts of thread and I wound up enforcing them myself.) The material on the jacket is also thinner than I'd like. My brother's doesn't fit very well either, he can wear it but without a lot of freedom of movement. They weren't very expensive, but we're still slightly disappointed.
