tips to maintain wigs in the desert?

Just moved to Nevada. Everything is WAY dustier and dryer, and wigs that were fine to leave out on heads in NY are now getting dustier than I prefer. i've been wearing them a bit and shaking them out to keep away the dust, but is it safe to put like a plastic bag over them to keep away dust? Any other great ideas? let me know!

We're all supposed to keep our wigs covered or in bags actually, no matter where we live, so it doesn't get dusty or dirty just sitting there for a while. ..But I dunno about anyone else, I'm kind of lazy :P

Yes, keeping them in plastic bags is fine, if it's unstyled. That's how wig companies store and send their wigs anyway. A large ziplock would be the best I think. Invest in some cheapy cheap hair nets too. I think it'll help control stray fibers and keep the whole thing neat when you want to pull it out. If it's a long wig, braid it loosely before putting it in.

If it's styled, I would say leaving it on the wig head and then covering it with a plastic bag (like a grocery bag) or even plastic wrap. I've also hear turning the wig inside out helps, for spikes, but I haven't tested that out myself. Again, if it's long, braid it when you're not using it.

I keep my non styled or lightly styled wigs in plastic bags and then those in sealed plastic containers. For my stylized wigs I keep it on a head w a trash bag on til and then that in a cardboard boxed.

I live in Nevada too! I'm going to agree with the above posters. It's best to keep them in plastic bags no matter what. On a slightly unrelated note, the dry desert air works wonder when you're waiting for a wig to dry after washing it! They dry within minutes. XD
