Braithcakes, a saw a pic somewhere of a cosplayer who had made the scythe, so I know it's been done before. And as making giant props of doom is my specialty, I'll have no problem making one myself! It's the sewing that always slows me down....

Here's three of my more recent props of doom:

I made these tridents/tuning forks that light up
http://www.cosplay.com/photo/2190763/

and this giant lance with tentacles of doom (also lights up)
http://www.cosplay.com/photo/2190726/

and this "staff" with a resin-cast crystal on the end
http://www.cosplay.com/photo/1693764/

(my friends and I do a lot of Trinity Blood cosplay)

Well, now that that's planned, I'm going to the mall right now. 8D

The eyebrow attempt was a disaster; I'll have to attempt that again at some point. Next time before day of masquerade. I was sad to have missed the gathering too.

We have a youtube link for our masq performance though, for those non-Fanime attendees.

Surprisingly, the hubby actually had a BLAST being Grell and we enjoyed getting stopped a lot for pictures on Sunday. Only complaint was the 10-pound chainsaw. We're probably going to rework the costumes some for ALA as a result. I need to finish my coat and my vinyl choice for my boots wasn't the greatest, so I'll probably remake them. For the hubby, we're thinking of doing Grell's black frock coat, and I definitely want to wash all the hairspray out and restyle the wig.

I LOVE MY HAT. Thank you, that is all.

OMGOSH!!! I watched that a few days ago on youtube and as a dancer it blew me away~!! I really really loved this perfomance! Keep being awesome please : D

on a different note my circus cosplay is almost done [my mom just gave the fabric to the person since my moms been sick than when she got better she lost the one making my costumes number and than learned im not the only person who cosplays who goes to that lady lol] im making the hat by seeing if i can cover a regular pirate hat sometime and my problem is should i get the midnight blue wisp on cosworx i dont know where to go to get wigs and im afraid of ebay.

Again I come along to ask for help;;; For attaching the diamonds to Joker's coat, how did everyone else go about it? Did you sew diamond fabric down or use fabric glue or...?;;;
I'm also planning on making Joker's wig by modifying a synthetic wefted wig by adding a lacefront to it... Wish me luck;;;;

I'm leaning towards the dark gray one.

The second one looks almost identical to the one my friend bought for her Ciel cosplay and it looked great in person and in all the photos we took. If you wanna see how it looked one her, here's my gallery with pictures: http://www.cosplay.com/gallery/184306/

Ciel's hair is very subjective really. Some people like it gray, some like it more blue. I like it a mixture of the two.

I did it the painfull way by sewing each "diamond" individually I did it with a sewing machine, not by hand
And good luck with the wig! xD

All the diamonds on my coat were stitched on by hand...@__@ If your coat is lined, or premade, that's pretty much the best option.

As you said it's really subjective. I like it dark grey my sister bought a pretty dark wig and sprayed some halloween hairspray (white) on it to make it lighter. I used the same thing to make a black wig have a dark blue tint. The spray makes the wig a little stiff, but not too stiff, you just don't need to put hairspray on it.
