Hello! I'm unsure about what to do about the sleeves. I would like the to be attached to the dress but the dress itself is backless. I've been looking at some patterns to modify but I'm just stumped! |

?? It looks like a halter top to me, the straps around the back are very much like a racing swimsuit.

I don't even see sleeves. It's just a halter top with open arms.

There are sleeves, click the image and make it larger. I'm trying to concept out an idea but so far I've been tossing them. It's odd because the sleeves just go over the shoulder and the back blue strap doesn't come to the front at all... it just kind of vanishes ><!!! I'll let you know if I come up with something but this one is a bit weird.
I have deducted that they are attached to the blue strap going around the neck, it's just odd how this outfit works.

From what I can tell, The dress and the sleeves are connected by the strap thingy, and the sleeves are collared?

It does very much so have sleeves, look closer.
The sleeves are attached to the dress. The blue and pink striped line is what they will be attached to the dress through. Right where the top of the bodice cuts off, the sleeves begin, and you will just need to attach them to the stripe. The sleeve starts about an inch or two down from your armpit on the bottom side. There do seem to be slight inconsistencies in the sketches, so you will need to decide how you want to do the blue and pink stripes on the back. They move diagonally outwards on the shoulder blades, but then come back in the form a V shape (I'm supposing) at the bottom, much like the V shape here

Just an idea
After sketching a bit this was the best idea I could come up with. Shape it kind of like a vest. You could attach it to the front dress still and add a button on the inside of the collar to hold it closed. For the back I added an extra sketch of something you could do if you still want to show your back like add a star shape or something to have it open. Just an idea to throw out there. If I come up with anything else I'll post it.

Those seams will probably work. Kwik Sew 3272 is a skating uniform pattern, but the bodice and sleeves might give you some ideas of what to look for.

Yeah, the one sketch that shows the back doesn't match up to the rest of the design at all - there's blue-and-pink straps that just appear magically in places that don't match up with the front. So...backless or not, you kind of have to throw out that sketch and go with the rest of it.
The sleeves attach to the portion of the blue-and-pink strap or band that goes around the collar so start there. And definitely go with what the others have said. Just don't be too sad about having to alter anything to make it work - whoever designed that dress failed basic design 101 in the back view sketch. It's not you, it's them. ![]()

You could do two separate items. The dress would be a halter and the sleeves part of a shrug (a short jacket).
