I'm looking forward to seeing everyone at Tigercon! I'll be in the Artist Alley in addition to running the cosplay events.
Also, just to put this out there, in regards to prop weapons:
DO NOT BRING THEM.
From Towson University's website:
DO NOT BRING:
- ANYTHING that resembles a real gun in even the slightest sense
- Airsoft or pellet guns or anything capable of firing a projectile
- Knives - anything with a blade longer than 3" is prohibited on campus
- Other weapons - do not bring martial arts weapons or archery equipment
This means that basically anything that looks like a weapon - this includes oversized swords, etc - should be left AT HOME. If you bring a realistic-looking weapon to campus, TUPD will confiscate it at the very least, if not throw you in the back of their car and take you to the station for questioning. This is a COLLEGE CAMPUS. DON'T BRING WEAPONS TO A COLLEGE CAMPUS. It's really that simple.
If you have a question about your prop, such as "is this a weapon?" Chances are that yes, it probably is, and you should probably leave it at home. I know that this can be aggravating; many of us spend a lot of time and money making good-looking props, myself included. But please understand that these are rules set by the Towson University administration, not by Tigercon staff, and that if people show up with swords and guns to a college-run event, it reflects really poorly on the people trying to put on a good convention.
