Newbie to VK cosplay

Hi, I'm new to doing VK cosplay. I was wondering, can you buy stuff at like, Walmart, or GOODWILL, and be able to look VK? I have an anime party at the end of the month, and I already have a TON of clothes from HOTTOPIC. I really want to do MAYA from the LM.C Video for BOYS & GIRLS. I know this might sound stupid to all of you who are used to doing VK cosplay, but I'm really lost on where to start. Any Tips? Oh, and I'm planning on wearing it to OHAYOCON 2013, I'm already registered for that one. Thanks!--Jules

No worries, we're all newbies at some point ^_^ But as for your question, you certainly can do VK looks with clothing from places like walmart and especially goodwill/ secondhand stores in general. In most cases it usually takes some tweaking and altering of the clothes/ accessories but a lot of people actually do that. Maya's look that you're going for in particular actually shouldn't be that hard. A visor, jersey, hoodie/long-sleeve shirt, and some sort of sport pants should be fairly easy to get ahold of [if you don't already have it] and decorate it [I'd say by some sewing and/or fabric paint] by hand for his particular look, along with making/ purchasing the accessories.

I actually decided to do Maya from the PUNKY HEART vid. My mom has a pink shirt she's letting me work on, and I got a hat from Lids and got it embroidered. It was like 25 bucks to do all that. It was worth the 25 bucks. I've got puffy paint to do the hat stars, I'm doing them in PINK, because I don't know how to change the bottom of a snapback. :/
I've got pants from Hottopic, that ive had for years. Also, I've got black gloves I can cut off the tips for the gloves that Maya wears.
