I always kinda got the feeling that some guys thought me might be a bit desperate or the type that doesn't think as highly of ourselves. That's always seemed like the guys who go to hook up :/ As for the female side of it, they seem like the girls who don't think highly enough of themselves. Though to be honest if it seemed like a friend knew what they were getting themselves into I would never judge them for it

I would love to meet a girl at a con. She could help me sew for the next con . But seriously dating a girl that was into cosplay would be awesome because A. cosplay/cons are really the only hobby left in my life (thanks a ton government work) and B. she automatically likes most the stuff I like. C. team cosplay.

I only recently started to look at cons for someone to be with, but I keep running into the problem of me being 26 and everyone around me being under 18.

Ganondorf Twilight Princess-1%

This endeavor would surely be folly, for any seasoned con-goer knows no singles convene there.

Dragoncon experience

I have found most ladies I talk to at dragoncon are not single. That's fine with me. I love just meeting any gals that are into the same things I am.

Back when I was single I never went to a con expecting to hook up, just to see my friends as well as make new ones plus just have a good time with peeps that are into the same things ^_^ All in good fun

Ehhhh, not me. It would be cool to meet the woman I would spend my life with at an anime convention, and I hope I do, but I don't see conventions as hook-up spots. Besides, most of the attendees are most likely underage and if you can't tell if they are or aren't just by looking at them then they probably are.

I think it's on a lot of checklists. Not entirely my cup of fantasy, but I wouldn't cite myself as an exclusion.

I remember at Holiday Matsuri 2012's 21+ VA panel, the MC polled the crowd (it was decently packed) on the occurrence of convention hook-ups and around 1/3rd of the mass raised a hand. I remember thinking that 75% probably got laid within the context of a pre-existing relationship.

I'll footnote an admission tho: In that moment, I was a bit frustrated and shrinking into my seat a little.

I know way too many people that say something along the lines of:
"Oh you go to conventions? How many hot girls do you bang there!?!?" It's like.."None dude..What even made you think that?" Then they go, "well why the hell did you even go? I should go!! I wanna bang a sailormoon!!" And I just never talk about cons to them again..I keep it to myself..I can't stand when people treat this like these only exist to get laid by hot chicks or something..And they don't seem to understand that they are the exact people that would be the "con creep"..Taking panty shots and hitting on everyone they see..

I would love to meet a woman who enjoys the nerdy things that I enjoy, and who goes to cons and cosplays and whatnot. But I don't think cons are the best place to either exclusively or mainly go to for hook-ups. Given my luck, it wouldn't even work out anyway.

But the one thing I do dislike about hooking up at cons is the judgmental nature of people, especially towards guys who hit on women. Yeah, you have your creeps and whatnot, but the problem is that any and all guys who might be awkward and weird around women who try to flirt and talk with a girl is labelled a creep (happened to a friend of mine, it was not good -_-). There's being wary of a potential creep, and then there's being paranoid of every guy who tries to be nice and talk to you who may just be really weird, but I feel a lot of people miss this and then feelings get hurt and people misunderstand one another, fingers point in all directions... yeah, it gets really messy >.>
