It's well past necro time!
The boyfriend and I have been doing a lot of foraging this summer. In a radius of just 20 minutes walk from our home we've found chokecherries, unattended apple trees in a field, wild grape, rhubarb, raspberries, the usual of dandelion and wild sorrel and clover on all the lawns, wild rose- the hips make good and very nutritious tea- AND we're still identifying other wild berries to see if they're safe to eat. Feels pretty awesome to be able to bring home something healthy, native and utterly free, and not even needing to hoe and water beforehand.
At present it's chokecherry season so we've been picking the bushes and drying berries for grinding into flour later. The stuff makes a nice almond-flavour substitute when dried and pulverized. The only problem is beating the birds to it!
