need help with a FMA costume

I'm trying to make a Full Metal Alchemist military Uniform but I can't get the flaps for the bottom half of the uniform to look right. If anyone out there has made these and can help me out it would be great. I'm a new cosplayer and this would be my first costume.

Are the flaps attached to the pants or are they a seprate piece? How would I figure out the sizing to make them lay right? Is there a pattern out there that I can alter and use?

I'm also having problems finding the right accents for the edges. My friend says their silver, but are they a dull silver or a shiney one?

any help would be very appreciated.

» I'd say that dull silver would look best. I've seen some Military cosplays with shiny accents, and it just didn't look right. Also, in the anime, you'll notice that the accents are in fact dull.

Thanks, I was wondering since there are so many pictures to go by. I figured a dull light silver would be best, since it would go with the uniform look.
