hee, i've only seen korean cosplayers from korea on this site too. i guess people don't just point out that they're korean if they live in america.
i also notice that almost everyone that replied to this thread is writing in korean. which is simply confusingg. i can't very well. +_+

I live in LA (as in, near Little Tokyo); although I was born in Argentina, my parents are korean.

I guess not a lot of koreans like to talk about it around here or something, because almost all koreans (especially adults) are definitely NOT into anime of any kind. It's quite a shame since it's tons of fun, but oh well.

Helloooow, nobody??
I'm in OC, going AX next Friday to see MIYABI!
Hope see u at AX.

옷을 만들기엔 너무 늦고, 사기에 마땅치 않고,
그렇습니다.

BUT I try to cosplay someone, maybe.. Teletubbies ...?

한국에서 알아주는 네이버에 물파스라는 코스홈피에 글 올렸는데.
seems like nobody wanna come...

Eh...

((I can write decently in Korean, but my keyboard is only English. So scratch that.

I need help! I'm Korean, and I love Japanese anime. My parents say it's not... RIGHT to wrap myself in a different culture, and leave my own behind like that.

Any words of advice on how to deal with this?

I live in San Ramon, which can be considered 'close' to LA ~ considering everything else. Look it up if you want to know exactly where it is. -heh-))

Yakuri: I think most Koreans tend to be slightly casual anime fans? XD who knows. They seem to know most anime, just not always huge dorks about it. (though vicious collectors are vicious o.o; I think most Koreans (especially guys) are gamers though

whatda83: ahahaha.... i was at AX.... but Oh well XD

Seiji Fujishiro: I think finding a balance of liking both cultures is the best. As for parents thing, if you are over the age of 18, I suggest just fighting back. They will have to realize you are an adult now and we don't live in Korea where the child must obey their parents no matter how old they are -.-;;; (just my personal thing. I've already moved out of my family to avoid arranged marriages -.-;;; )

arranged marriages ^^
uh
i wouldnt really say korean guys are all gamers.
like sure we like gaming, but still
many of us still enjoy the fresh air and a good game of socccer, basketball volley ball or any other sport.
Thats like saying italian guys are all good for contruction works.
it just doesnt work that way.
Korea just tends to be strong at gaming but that does not include the ENTIRE population of guys in that category =P

snickers. i didn't say all. I said most. Most I know are anyway. (besides, there's like 3 channels on TV dedicated to video game tournaments and stuff aren't there in Korea? ) and so many of them want to become professional gamers for living. sorry if it sounded like a rough generalization, it really wasn't meant to be. (I was just saying a lot of otakus I know who are guys are more obsessed with games than anime o.o; )

and I loled when you mentioned guys liking soccers and basketball. Personally, I think many Asians who like basketball musta been fans of Slam Dunk at one point? XD (and dominoed over to others XD) And soccer and baseball just being one of the major sports in Korea/Japan. (I also obsess over world cup and basketball games XD )

And yeah, my parents were old fashioned -.-;
