Korean Wedding
hehe I'm not korean I am white.
I'm getting married to a korean male next year and actually his family wants us to do a korean wedding. I can only find really traditional wedding things. What do I wear? What happens in the wedding? Is there anything I should know for meeting his family? |

you wear.. one of these :
http://junepark.maru.net/homepage/pi...wedding/14.jpg the wedding itself is called 폐백 (pyebaek) You have the two parents of the male side of the family stting across a table http://www.lifeinkorea.com/pictures/pyebaek.jpg <- like so, and you bow 4 times, showing respect for the male's family and their ancestor. Then then the groom's parents toss chestnuts and other nuts, symbolizing their wish for the new daughter in law to have many healthy children. Well, that's the "traditional wedding". It takes place after the western styled wedding these days. In the western styled one, it's just like weddings here, you get to wear the big white dress, with father bringing you to the alter and such. Hope this helped a bit XD; Good luck to your marriage : D!

Yes, I've seen those too... Koreans have western styled wedding first, then the Traditional Korean ceremony afterwards ><

asamisong: You should ask his family's side to help you find the proper hanbok items and any traditional info you need to know.
o dear they do the nut throwing thing? i find that so embarassing lol o i thought it was ridiculous that my bf's brother and his wife had 3 weddings... >_> man i just want to finish it in one shot haha lol but for an idea...i think her hanbok was about $1000. i'm not sure if it was a good price or not, but it was made by some top designer or something. gosh, it'll cost more than a regular wedding dress lol
