Hancock Fabric Stores Going Out of Business

Thought I'd give some of you guys a heads up because you may be in the same sinking boat I am.

If you have a Hancock Fabric store near where you live, you might want to drive by the window and see if they are going out of business. The local outlet in San Marcos, TX has the "Everything must go!" signs up, and the workers there told me about 100 or more Hancock Stores nationwide are being closed down between now and June.

They had everything inside marked down by 30%-50% , so if you have one nearby that is also shutting down, you should probably swing by and grab what you can.

The Hancock Fabric in my town is the only fabric store in town, so this kinda sucks. The local Wal-Mart doesn't carry fabric either ><

Here's a store locator URL

Oh no! With Wal-mart getting rid of their fabric sections, all I'll have left is a crappy joann's...we don't even have superstores around here!

Thanks for the heads up though!

The one closest to me is an hour and a half away and it's closing. The next closest one is 2 hours away and it is staying open. My journey to find fabric continues to grow longer as each fabric store near me closes.

Last I heard through my "connections", 2 stores in Southern California were slated to close: Simi Valley and Lancaster. It wouldn't surprise me if one or two more in that district also went down, because the impression I've gotten is that not many of the stores in that district do well.

Yeah, my friends and I are very disappointed about this, especially my boyfriend, since he works there and was lucky to find a wonderful staff there. The Hancock Fabrics closest to us is closing down along with all the other Hancock stores in Houston except one. I'm really bummed; Hancock Fabrics has a good quality selection of useful fabrics. I guess I'll just have to order online from them now. =/

The one on N. Lamar is Austin is closing T.T the next fabric store is 40 minutes way by bus, instead of the 15 minutes to the old one...... When the store clerk told me that, my stomach lurched and when i think about it i get sick.....
When I ask my friend to take me shopping she never comes thru so now.... I have to go across town every time.
I hope the company isn't going bankrupt..... I need to keep cosplaying!

I hear the one closest to me is closing down (Douglasville, GA) I hope this doesn't effect other Hancock stores in the Atlanta area. I am not very fond of JoAnns mainly because of their prices and not so good selection of things. I am going to have to drive by there sometime within the next week or so to see if they are truely going out of business.

Yeah, the one near me actually hired me for a summer job just days before they found out they had to close. It was so sudden even the employees weren't expecting it, I guess.

Uh, why the did this get moved to the Spam section? I figured this was an important piece of information for a lot of cosplayers to know, since Hancock Fabric is a huge fabric provider for many cosplayers. I'm not trying to sell anything, and Hancock Fabric certaintly isn't my own website, so why did this get moved here?

The one in Tempe, Arizona is closing, too. The Joann's right next to it is moving to Mesa x_X. At least there's still a Joann's in Awhatukee, and it's only 25 extra minutes to get there. Until summer when I move back home, then it's only 5 min awayXD
