Question Question

Here's my question? Are their any cosplayers who live in the Triad area on this board? I signed up a while but after only seeing meetings and outings in the Durham area I got turned off. It would be nice to have some people here to hang out with. Mainly in winston, greensboro, or high-point? I'm starting to feel like the only who cosplays in this lil' area. Thanks

Ditto. I live in Burlington, which is about 20 - 30 minutes from Greensboro. And I'd love to hang out and cosplay on a weekend I'm not working and my husband is out playing M:tG or Dreamblade.

There are a lot of CCR people that live in the Triad or around it. The reason we've had so many gatherings centered around the Triangle area is because the people that usually organize the gatherings live in the Triangle area and don't know much about Greensboro and the surrounding area. But hey, if you guys want to suggest gatherings for before or after Animazement, I could start an official topic to discuss where we should meet or something.

I live about an hour from Winston-Salem but I work in the city so traveling to the gatherings has always been a bit hard for me too. I live in the opposite direction from them.

My work is sending me to Durham for at least the next three weeks and possible for a permanent stay. So it seems I'll be closer to the 'Triangle' (Is that what Raliegh and whatnot are called?) I've lived in NC for three years and still don't know the terms XD

There were plans for pilot mountain gathering the Saturday before Easter so everyone should check out that thread as well!

This is how I painted it for my Yankee-transplant husband:

Triangle: The area formed if you draw lines between Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill (or Cary, depending on who you ask).

Triad: The area formed if you draw lines between Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point.

Charlotte is its own little world.

And that's the major metro areas in NC.

I wish I was going to animazement this year but lack of money and no ride is why I 'm not able to go this year, but I'm planning to go to neko-con. But we should have our own cosplay picnic at one of the parks in greensboro or here in winston. Let me know if it's a good idea and I could start planning.

I remember trying to get a get-together going in Greensboro once, but it got shot down pretty fast.

Just so you know, the CCR is pretty much dead now

Right now I'm at ECU, but my house is in Asheboro, which is 20 or so minutes south of Greensboro.

Theres like 2 people here (in winston) that cosplay, other than myself, One is on this forums, she moved to baltimore for school though, theres also some other people I hang out with who live in Reidsville who cosplay too. This is like the cosplay desolate side of NC.

yeah that's what I figured. About there not being many of us around here, but like I mentioned earlier I don't drive so it would have been nice to meet others here. So if I had to catch a bus I could.

I think that the best thing we could do is to hold gatherings in different places in succession. Like once, in the west, once in the center, and another maybe in Greenville or on the beach or something, and trade them up each time. What has turned off a lot of people to the CCR is the tendency to only hold gatherings around Raleigh, and what with the CCR being dead, I think a strong gathering with lots of people can held to revive it. One of the major reasons that the CCR is kind of idle is that the person that traditionally organizes our gatherings and meetings, Link, has been busy with work, school, and his website, so he hasn't given much attention to the CCR.

I like that idea, that way once people get to know each other thier could be carpools made to head for each destination, and if their are others like me who don't drive wanted to go could just pay the driver gas money that could be an idea also to help get people to gatherings.

I got to school at Elon and I say it's even hellishly hard to find cosplayers just here on campus. I lucked out in that my Little in my sorority loves anime and cosplaying just as much as I do.

If there was ever a large enough group, I could reserve a space on campus for a group meeting or the like.

I would be all for another gathering, just fter Az though, I am going insane with working on cosplays and having to be at school in teacher mode all the time, and playing in a Chinese traditional music group in Greensboro I have no free time right now, lol.

I'd prefer a pre-AZ meetup like last year, it was a lot of fun and i'd definitely go even though I no longer live around the triad area. Hickory's too far west damnit.
