Yep, I've already posted and msgd a few neat lookin CPs but I havent even introduced myself! Not too formal, ne? Well, I'm Jemma, I live in England where the weather sucks and so does the lack of open minded people and anime fans who really are true fans. CPs are almost non-existant and J-rock is considered as urban pop music. Yes, it is quite profound. I'm 15, well, just, b-day was last sunday (11/08)
I'm pretty insane and suffer from manga-otakun-syndrome. I am a nice person and will accept abuse gracefully and doesn't argue, well, dependant on what of course. Anyway, I talk too much! And all this comes down to is ''Hi people!'' |

I'm desperate to go to that, iy looks great, but lack of funds forbid me..
I wanted to have an art stall to show off some of my no so brilliant but okish fanart stuff, but that would cost a further £60 for the 3 days... got it marked on my calander.. my sister's b-day is on the 4th too, and she wants to go to London for a concert, so it would be convenient but still, lack of money... it would total up to £215!! I spent all year tryin to save but have only managed a pitiful £50 which was my b-day money... barely enough for 1 day there AND the transport costs. Not fair... |

Thank you for the warm greetings Nietsche, Akaya and KuroBaraDuelist. Glad you're all friendly, I was expecting less of a ''hi y'all'' than I got! So nice to feel wanted ^^ lol! Tell me, how many of you have had the problem as me for getting to cons and expos; none of your own transportation, no friends that wants to go so their transportation is a noway, no money to afford public transportation and barely enough money to get in and still have enough to spend on souveniers? ... Ain't it so unfair?

Transportation is a big problem, I'm so thankful that Big Apple Anime Fest & Anime Expo New York are coming. They're just a train ride away! Getting a hotel room & bus tickets to Otakon every year is the most expensive part of the con. I can drive, but my car is highly unreliable for long trips.

Yeah, the next thing here is the Aya Returns 2002. Accomodation for a single room is £35 a night, but getting a tabel (cos I wanted to showcase some work, sell if I was lucky) an extra £20 and thus over the three day perios exluding the costs of transport, it would cost me £105. That's about $140. About. But, I'd need a double room cos I'm a 'minor' bein under 18 thus need a ccompanyment of an adult, costing £55 per night as opposed to £35. Then comes membership; another £38. Add it togther with the cost of transport for 2 and buying gifts along with it all, you're talkin £350! Again, roughly $450. Ouch.

>_< Ouch, and that's if you don't want to eat or buy any toys there! Otakon is usually about $400 for me, not counting the dealer's room. Actually, I just got the credit card bill for the hotel today, ouch!

Nasty >.0 !!!! I'm gonna have to save up a life time to afford it all! I'll be 75 before I can go in full CP kit! And worse, it'll suck cos the costume wont fit since I made it about 6 decades ago >.< Man, $400, WITHOUT the room? That's just robbery... But I know the feeling.. I mean, £400 roughly including about one mouthful of food per night... I'd come home looking like an urban reject 0.o Clothes hanging loose and all!

Oh, no! $400 with room! The hotels fill so fast, I always get stuck in an expensive room.

They have it all planned, I swear... the dealers and the big guys get the cheapy rooms, and the guests are litterally conned at the con... See the irony? Doesnt mean convention at all... it's a conspiracy!

I'm just going for the day, no big investment. I really want to glomp Rachel Lillis & Eric Stuart, which is free. I may end up in Chinatown w/ a bunch of friends though.
