Anime Detour 2008

So this thread is being posted insanely early. Oh well.

At this point, I think it's a given pre-reg is going to be necessary to get in, so we have to plan ahead, right?

So, any plans yet for costumes at the next AD?

I'm thinking I'll probably go on a Jrock cosplay binge soon, just because I already have some fabric for Myaku Shinya and Osaka Jo Die (both from Dir en Grey). Want to make Drain Away Kaoru too, just for the combat boots/geta combination...and the insane amount of tiny details. I really should have learned after how much the Kijin outfit cost/how much time was spent. XD I'm considering doing some Phantasmagoria costumes too...But overall, I just miss the Jrock cosplaying.

Might be forced to do some more Tsubasa cosplay thanks to this poster I got at Detour this year....

Hey, sounds like you got a handful! The earlier the better I say. I will be going as Tidus again finally since I didn't cosplay the last two years. I will also be going as Claude from Star Ocean 2. I am going to work harder for next year so it will turn out great

i think i will be Sayuri from Memoirs of a Geisha and Gunner Yuna, and maybe Sexy Jutsu from Naruto ( Don't worry i will have a skin colored body suit on and cotton glued on)

Well, as of now, I'm working on Kuchiki Byakuya for Anime North, so I'll most likely bring that next year for Anime Detour. I'm thinking on doing Deidara (Naruto) next year, still not sure on that.

Man, I envy the people who can actually plan out and execute multiple costumes for a year. While it's hell for me to just get work on one done and it's not even certian if I'll be able to go for next year.</whine>

I'm going with a One Piece group and I'm going to be Luffy. But I'll probably throw in "real world" Ichigo/Kon in Ichigo's body, and maybe one other costume if I think of something.

At the moment I'm unsure if I can go to AD08 as I am moving to LA fairly soon, but since I have lots of friends back here in MN who go to AD, I'm hoping my spring break schedule works out so I can come back in time for AD.

Anyhoo, my '08 cosplay lineup so far is all Dir en grey (Jrock) (at AD07 I counted 5 Jrock cosplayers, myself included--sort of a dearth this year):
-Finish up the details on Gauze-era Kaoru and make the accessories for the other variants
-remake Myaku Kaoru since I have so much fabric left from the first attempt and the old wig is so ruined that I really just need a new one (said wig can double as an Osaka Jo wig too, which is a plus)
-Make Kaoru's Akuro no Oka costume--b/c I've been wanting to make the massive hat for ages. Wearing it, I'll probably be an obstacle to the flow of con traffic, so I guess I'll have to stay of the halls. ^^;

As far as what I'll actually wear at AD, I don't know yet, but I'll certainly wear Osaka Jo again because I really like it but only got to wear it for a few hrs this year. That and my friend might be making Osaka Jo Toshiya (nothing like the prospect of a group to get ya motivated).

Akito (Fruits Basket)
Zexion (Kingdom Hearts II)

aaand possibly Ichigo or Rukia from Bleach - depends on how short my hair is at the moment. XD
