/coming out of severe lurk-dom....

Just so y'all know, I followed pretty much all of you on Tumblr that posted their links :P! Just in case anyone's interested, here's my link lotte000.tumblr.com (not that anyone here knows me since I'm much more of a reader than a poster :P!)

@Lime I can't wait to see your costume finished! I love everything about it so far! <3

Ali, thank you for chiming in on the sleeve construction! I have tried it on and moved my arms all around and put a hairtie around the bottom of the sleeve to see how it will look gathered and sewn....was too lazy to attach the rest to test it ... Lol!!! And they fit great! Animated proportions are sometimes hard to imitate for the clothing, but rapunzel has more sleeve than puff on her so I did intend to make the puffs short. They aren't too short though! I did take a pic wearing it which I'll share later...or maybe just one of the completed bodice since the goal is tonight! Thanks again for the tips though, very helpful!

@Lime - Are you not getting any extra poof on the underside? My concern was less with the length of it overall, but more that the inner part of the sleeve looks longer than the outer part. It might just be the way they're sitting on the hanger.

I started re making my Ariel town dress bow today lol. I was bored and figured 'why not!' haha! Its now bigger and its stuffed with a bit of netting so its more film accurate... oh deary lol! Still gotta finish sewing it up and put the clip on the back though. Hopefully it should be finished tomorrow!

I'm taking the purple in the middle down a notch to give it more of a sweetheart neckline.. easy fix!

I am having serious sleeve issues. Thinking about it is giving me a migraine.

The darker one is closer, right??

I chose the lighter first, but in person and in photos it's like a pinky pearl white... and when you'd describe her costume you'd say her sleeves are purple with pink ribbon stripes.

My only concern ( and yes, this is a real concern....I'm not just trolling.... ) is that from a straight up or down angle the shine is totally different and it looks like this!

IT LOOKS LIKE CRAP!

But I won't be hanging out upside down right...? Hmm...who knows! But at the same time I feel like the light one is so bright that it's distracting and gives the sleeves an almost jester-like look ( now you won't be able to un-see! ).

I feel totally OCD over this and it's putting me at a huge sewing-block.

Someone just kick me and tell me what to do! Seriously. Please. @_@

lime - I'm with nessa. The flat darker color doesn't look too different from the darker reference images, and it more clearly matches your pink trim and bodice lacing, and contrasts with the pale pink sleeve. The lighter ribbon looks almost white by comparison.

Yeah, I agree with all the above, the darker pink ribbon does look much better..

I may be taking pics of my own Rapunzel cosplay this weekend, though it won't be nearly as good as some I've seen, but I'll still post it.. ^^

Dark gets another vote from me too!!! In comparing both of them, the lighter one just looks too washed out and looks like it blends into the tights part of the sleeves.

LKD- I'm planning on putting all the pictures on flickr or something like that. Oh, and I adore your Esme! Have fun at MHP tonight~

Ali- Great Belle progress! I'm not sure if I've said this before, but I really like this version and the color scheme. I've always thought that Belle's ballgown was a little too bright.

Leslie- I think I've done that more often than I would like. I think it would be a good idea to post your current wig pictures so that we can see what you're talking about. After all, it might not be as bad as you think.

Fenicia- Very nice! Your bow is so big and beautiful!

Lime- I'm going to go with the general opinion and say the darker ribbon. It looks more accurate and really just goes with the sleeves better.

Beni - Thanks so much! Honestly, the yellow scheme has been making me veto the costume for years. (That's a color I just cannot pull off.) It's really just that I had a few yards of that gold satiny stuff and a bunch of gold beads and things leftover from other costumes that made me decide to go for it, and just match everything to that. But I love how recognizable Disney costumes are that I can do something like completely redo the color scheme or add tons of my own stuff to the costume and it's still definitely Belle. (Or Ariel... I suppose I've done this before.)
