Ursula the Sea Witch (little mermaid) brainstorming

Hey all! My next costume for the Toronto Fan Expo 2007 is going to be Ursula, but I'm having some blocks when it comes to brainstorming what I want to do.

I have a general idea for the dress, which will just be a black sleeveless gown with the hem altered to become stuffable tubes, which I will fill with cotton and wires to make my tentacles.

But does anyone have any suggestions for body paint? Ursula's skin is an icky greyish color. Does anyone have any experience with body paint that does not rub off? Any type of theatre paint with do, I suppose. Or even fabric suggestions that will work well with body paint--I don't want grey stains all over my dress, yanno?

And for the wig--has anyone seen any Ursula cospalys done before (with ref pics) that I might use to get an idea? Otherwise I'll just wing it, but it'll be my first real wig shaping, so I'd like any tips on dying/streaking wigs and what type of glue/hairspray to use on it.

Anything you guys have is greatly appreciated!

Which form are you doing, her normal sea witch form? Her human "I'm gonna steal the prince and there's nothing you can do to stop me" form? Or her monster "I'm the ruler of the sea now, B!tch!" form?

When doing a search, I found these pics. Plus a Vanessa.

When it comes to Ursula's skin, she's a combination of 483 and G 83 for the Vivid aquacolor at the cosworx store. That paint is water activated, but it tends to come off with rubbing while wearing all day. (Which would be about the bodice area for you) You could try Pax paint (which is pros-aide adhesive and acrylic paint, and then just match up the color you want to be) It will *not* come off unless you get a special remover for it. For the wig, which looks like a combination of pompadour/updo, you need some got2b hair products. This will help with styling. If you want to do some streaks, you can add some colored wefts for style (You can find those at doctored locks)

Ursula has been one of my future plans, she is such a bad-@ss!

Thumbs up

Hey Crazy Flower - you DID a great job of it. I know I sent you a message congratulating you on your fantastic costume, but just for the record here, I've covered it (along with a few other incarnations) in my page on Ursula the Sea Witch. This IS a fantastic costume.
