Filming AnimeFEST 2007
For my video technology class and club I promised to film the oddities of an anime convention. This time I chose AnimeFEST, for it's a con I havn't been to yet and we all know for every new con you go to, there's always something strange and new. (Even if it's just another anime convention.)
For this, it brings up the question, it's going documentary on one of the three things, "What kind of people go to a convention?" "What kind of events happen at a convention?" or both together. I need to know which would be better to choose from for AnimeFEST?

AnimeFEST definitely is a BOTH kind of fest.
They have 4 days to do events, so there is a lot of events, and overall, they have nicer attendees, or atleast, more behaved attendees than A-Kon.

Thank goodness. That's the whole reason why I didn't film A-kon, for I knew it didn't have as much to offer as some other cons do. (Even though it's big.) Anyways, it'll be my first AnimeFEST, so I'll wait for a few more comments before I decide what to film.

I think you would be able to do both if you plan to film at AnimeFEST. I have to agree people are much more civil and there is always something fun to do.
I honestly feel if you are going to do interviews or talk about who goes to the con, you'll have much more variety at AnimeFEST. My mother likes to go every so often even though she doesn't quite understand much about anime or the culture...she really just enjoys the atmosphere. You never know who you'll find at this con. ^_^ I would love to see your project happen though. I know so many people who start a project like this but nothing ever comes of it. I have been really interested in watching a documentary from a fans perspective for a long time...especially featuring a con I frequent. Good luck and hope to see your finished product!

You should definitely cover the cosplaying part, and it's very interesting and captivating about a competition.
