I've always vaguely dreamed of cosplaying as Aerin or Harry but since I'm super short and neither blonde nor red-haired, and those are the kind of cosplays that depend a lot on physical resemblance since the costume description is vague, I've pretty much given up. I still want to make Lissar's ballgown someday though.
I cannot tell you how happy this makes me. I thought I was the only person who loved Deerskin out of Robin's impressive collection. <3

But my favorites have already been mentioned for the most part. Oh well. My dream cosplays from books:

Lirael (Librarian waistcoat outfit) from the Abhorsen trilogy by Garth Nix
Lirael (Abhorsen/Remembrancer outfit)
Angharad/Harimad-sol from The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley (complete with Gonturan, of course)
Moreta from the Dragonriders of Pern series by Anne McCaffrey
Polgara the Sorceress from the Belgariad/Mallorean series by David Eddings
Mord-Sith (Red) from the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind

I actually think I'd be pretty comfortable in it, too. ;D I've worn much less to conventions in the past. of course, all of these would have to be debuted at a sci-fi convention or something, since I doubt many people at your typical anime con would get it.

Dream book costumes:

Palin Majere, Tasslehoff Burrfoot and Crysania- Dragonlance Saga
Rowena Ravenclaw and a young Sirius Black- Harry Potter
Battle Damaged Tutanhkamun- Lord Meren Mystery Series book 5

I'm actually finding myself wanting to do more book and other types of costumes lately instead of anime ones.

Random USE Downtimer from the Ring of Fire series by Eric Flint. Want to see if I can combine 17th and 20th century dress without looking like some idiot wearing a pair of chucks with historical garb. Right now I'm at the research and sketch phase.

I'm not familiar with the series, but it sounds really cool. I love combining historical periods. ;D

For any who want to check it out, I've been working on concept sketches for my Lirael costumes.

Great sketches, really looking forward to how you handle the scale mail. Take lots of progress photos.

Found out that one of the Ring of Fire contributors, Virginia De Marce, will be at a con I staff, so I can ask her about the world and get some tips. Unfortunately the writers spend more time describing the military and things that go boom, and not much time describing the clothing.

Wow, those sketches look great <33
I'm seriously considering making a Vin cosplay from Mistborn: the Final Empire (the trilogy in general) ^^;;;

Definitely this! I cut a stencil for the silver key pattern on my surcoat.

YAY!! I'm going to bring my Sabriel to D*C again this year - I really hope to see your Lirael!

I really want to do a Lirael cosplay (either librarian or her in her Abhorsen-in-waiting surcoat) , or a sabriel one, for next year's D*C (my costume list is full for this year, sadly). For the surcoats, I plan on screenprinting the keys/stars and keys instead of just stamping, since I finally learned how to do it.

Dune.

i really want to costume the whole thing. Scifi did a good job interpreting the book but some of the costume choices were awful. the emperor looked like liberaci!

Some want to do more than anything:

Classic fremen: i want to make stillsuits for my husband and I. I think I can even rig it so you could drink out of them!

Reverend mother: i think neither movie got this right.

Chani: her sietch robes

Jessica: her court wardrobe

Uniforms: Particularly the Atreides dress uniforms and working on how duncan's would stand out without decoration.

Has anyone read the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich? I would love to do Stephanie, but the problem is, I doubt anyone would recongize her. I'd look like a normal girl unfourtantly.

If only I had someone to do Lulu and Grandma Mazur with me xD

I've kind of outgrown the books, but I'd love to try a Circle of Magic cosplay sometime. Maybe a Briar crossplay. Daja would be cool, too, except that the skin tone would be really hard.
