Clockwork-- Ooh, good idea! Ren Faires often have some sweet cloaks, and you're right, they make awesome winter coats as well.

And thanks, glad you like the design! I'll definitely post progress photos, though there's only so much I can do with it until the feathers arrive.

I know that feeling all too well! I've always wanted to cosplay Polgara. I think the only con I attend where it would be recognzed would be Dragon*Con

I really want to make it look good, even though it is mostly off the shelf - I want to get photos at Dragon*Con at the Aquarium... Since it is sort of fitting.
I want to see pictures when you're done! I love the Dresden Files. I was ridiculously happy to have spotted a Harry Dresden cosplayer at Ohayocon this past year!

I am planning on doing a cosplay of Ani from The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale~ It's one of my favorites, but sadly, not very well known.

I would dearly love to do any sort of cosplay from Discworld. Not sure what yet. But with my physique (and with the popularity of dwarves thanks to the Hobbit movies over the next few years) I think I should go for Cheery Littlebottom.

I would want to have two outfits, probably for a Saturday on a con weekend.

Daytime: standard dwarf look, beard etc., and City Watch uniform with skirt option. Forensic alchemy kit. Obvious lipstick.

Evening: ballgown and high heeled boots. More makeup. Same beard.

AHH sweet!! I was thinking maybe doing these:

Anabeth Chase-- NOT the way they made her in the movies.. Gosh... They butchered her...
Kate (I forget her last name?!), Stcky, Constance and Reynie from the Mysterious Benadict Society.
Violet Baudalaire- a series of unfortunate events.
Ashley- oracles of fire/dragons in our midst
Mary Lennox- secret garden.

Yeah, those are just some of my ideas/plans...... :P

I pet human now refuses to watch a movie with me if I've read the book in the last year because of that movie.

How come?
I know when I saw it I kept critiquing the whole thing, and pointing out all the errors in it... Blah, they should just start over and make it more correct!

That's exactly why. The biggest one was there confusion between Annabeth and Claris.

I wonder if there is a reprieve from the "special hell" if you read books.

I'm going to be doing a Galadriel cosplay that will be a bit of a mix between my vision from the book and the film. Not sure if it will be Friday or Saturday at Anime North though.

Yeah, I thought Annabeth WAS Clarise the first time I saw it, and so I was super confused....

LOL you mean the special help Shepherd mentioned in Firefly...? Yeah, I think it's an exception if you read the book :P

I see a couple people talking about Tortall characters- that would be awesome! I think I'd pick Kel if I was going to do that, but honestly, picking a character from Tamora Piece, I'd probably take Tris from the "Circle of Magic" books. Or maybe not; I may be getting a bit too old for a character that young. lol!

I've always wanted to make a costume of Merry (from LotR) in his Rohirrim armor, but that would be so incredibly hard to do. Maybe if my husband ever learns to work leather, like he's been talking about learning someday... And I'd love to make an Eowyn costume, too.

I have a costume of Susan from Discworld that I made for a book signing/Halloween, but I haven't done anything with it in probably four years. I really should get a wig for that someday and actually wear the darn thing again. And find my husband's Rincewind costume, for that matter. I've always kind of wanted a costume of one of the girls from Monstrous Regiment, but probably not enough to actually *make* the costume. Heh.

I have a costume that's technically a Herald of Valdemar (by Mercedes Lackey) cosplay. That one's entirely finished, but I've kind of fallen out of liking that series so the only time I've worn it was for my wedding and that was without most of the accessories that made it a cosplay (I originally bought it to be a wedding dress, then made the bits that made it a costume figuring I could use the dress for both). Sheesh, what is it with me starting costumes and then abandoning them? lol!

I also joke with my husband that I'd love to make a Caliban costume since he's my favorite Shakespeare character, but that's more joke than anything else.

Oh! And I did forget one costume- I've been tossing around the idea of making a costume of Ori from The Hobbit. I don't know if I'd be able to deal with that facial hair, though. I always dress as elves, so it would be neat to make a dwarf costume for once!

And speaking of elves, I really should make a Mirkwood elf costume. Those are my favorite elves, hands down. Maybe for the opening of the next Hobbit movie depending on if I get less squeamish about the beard. LOL!
