Berserk Manga to be Released in the USA

"Dark Horse Comics in conjunction with Digital Manga is proud to announce the publication of Kentaro Miura's manga horror/fantasy epic Berserk. One of the most eagerly anticipated manga properties in recent years, Berserk was originally published in Japan by Hakusensha and has been serialized in Young Animal Magazine since the early 1990's. An animated TV series followed in 1998 and Media Blasters announced a U.S. anime acquisition in 2001. With a release scheduled for fall 2003, Dark Horse and Digital Manga will present Berserk as three volumes in a non-westernized format. Each volume will read from right to left and original Japanese sound effects will remain intact."

Ohhhhhhh hell yeah. This has to be the greatest news I've heard in awhile.

True, but each book is soooooo long so they gotta translate all of that text.

In Japan, they only come out with a new volume once every like, 8 months.

But is it three volumes all at once in August or whatever month it was supposed to come out in, or are they just releasing three volumes total?

It would be pretty shady to just translate the first three volumes and thats it. From the way it's written it seems like they aren't continuing after the 3rd volume.

I'd think that they're releasing all three of them at once. I mean, why release ALL of them at once? They probably gotta see how it sells over here before they continue work on more translated volumes.

Yeah I think it's just testing the market to see how well it does. And I hope it does well. I was about ready to buy the Japanese manga and look for online translatoins till I heard this. I know a LOT of people like Berserk, so I hope the same people buy the comic. I want to see ALL of the volumes here and soon.

And I want to play the dreamcast game. hehe... My old roomate said he had it and it picks up where the series leaves off and whatnot...so...yeah. When he saw the first dvd he was like whoa! Is this the same as the game? I wonder why they released that game here tho...but oh well.

berserk is teh awesome.

Believe it or not, the game is like a toned-down version of Devil May Cry. It rules though, you get to fight Zodd!! The game is incredibly dark and violent though, I was suprised.

My favorite char was the Skeleton Knight... I can't wait to see him in the US version... Its cool how Berserk was the only manga series to have a video game as the official sequel

Oh, I didn't know that "Sword of the Berserk" for Dreamcast was an official sequel to the manga . . . I was always under the impression that it was a sequel to the anime, and that it actually differed from the manga.

Hm!

It was a side story to the manga, it takes place somewhere in Millennium Falcon.
