Happy Now?

Enough is enough

Dear weird Naruto fans,

I have to say something, for I work now for the "happiest" place on earth for a year now. It may seem like the ideal place to cosplay. With all the happy atmosphere, fauna and all that. Even the scenery changes from land to land.

But please people, stop, it was funny around Halloween, it is now the fourth of July get over it. We (my section of) at the "happiest" place on earth have a new name for you guys 'Nargooks'.

'Nargooks' are groups of people in poor or mundane Naruto costumes that wander around the "happiest" place on earth. Day in day out, over and over again with there little buddies. 'Nargooks' you don't ever try with your costumes

(Even guests won't go near you)

Now don't get me wrong dear dear Naruto fans, I enjoy the series, and there's nothing wrong cosplaying in public. All I ask is for you to straiten up your costume, look decent, represent. Don't make it look like you made the costume out of a 99 cent store.

So in parting, I hope for all you 'Nargooks' you either stop, or clean up. I hope to see in in the future paying high prices at my store. Once you look nice the name will leave you. I'm certain there are a lot of nice people around here who could help you with your costume.

Sincerely

RMD

LOL, I haven't even cosplayed Naruto yet, And it seems like I won't know, Because, it's to damn over done, When I was originally going to do him, There wasn't anyone doing him. Next year.. and BOOM! billions of them.

I agree with you though, I am abit tired of seeing the boot leg cosplays, While, I see nothing wrong with supporting the series and wearing the "Cosplay" items Hot Topic/wal-mart, etc sells, But for the love of god, Stop calling yourselfs cosplayers... heh.

sorry. uhh

believe it.

yea.

I said that.

Bob bless you! It's bad enough that over half of the parents there think all cosplayers are porn fanatical freaks...at least make yourself look presentable and clean-cut.

And seconding the emotion to Drako: I love you.

The correct term is "Narutards".

And yes, there are hundreds upon hundreds of them. I'd suggest you just get used to it. Your particular establishment is a rather large beacon to those attending in costume, even though it's particularly against the rules.

I'm really confused at this post. Is it aimed at poor cosplay or the attitudes of "Narutards?"

Maybe there are some people out there who can not afford or have the time to make a great costume. So they just put some basics together and wear it. There are many cosplayers like that.

For example, Metal Gear Solid. There are many upon many cosplayers out there that do not even post on here, but they come to conventions with some woodland camo, a ski mask, a vest and a toy gun or airsoft gun with a ! above their head and declare themselves a Metal Gear Solid guard.

Honestly, as a person who exclusively cosplays "Generic bad guys" from Metal Gear, I could go insane and rant like you did here declaring how their costumes are poor and mine is superior because it's accurate.

There's a term for that, and it's called elitism. And, I definately believe this forum is not an elitist hangout. I strongly oppose elitism, we have enough cosplayers out there that do it, and no, names do not need to be mentioned because they know who they are, most of us know who they are, so why bother.

Sure, there are people out there who do not make themselves look the greatest. Unless they pull off the vibes that they are doing it ON PURPOSE AS A PRANK or just trying to be stupid on purpose, let them go! I will just as gladly pose in a picture with those guys I mentioned above in the gear as much as I would love to pose in a picture of someone who cosplays Snake to the greatest of accuracy. It's all part of the fun, and I love meeting new people and those who like the game series. I could care less how their costume looks. Unless they are doing it on purpose as an insult to our community, I see no problem in it. Some people have no time, no money, and are less artistic than others.

It's a phase in cosplay. It use to be inuyasha back in the day. It will pass and something new crapy anime will take the cosplay thing by storm.

hm...I'm on both sides here (spetsnaz and RoMayDraco). yeah I can understand that not everyone has money/time and they still have the right to cosplay and have just as much fun as everyone else. even myself...I don't have the funds to really buy fabric that's over $7 a yard and I do work and have classes so it's not like I can just work on my costume whenever I want. (yay for being a poor college student)

but that doesn't mean I'm not going to put any effort into my costumes and I do get tired of all the naruto cheapie looking cosplays out there. it's not that I think every costume has to look perfect...but after seeing the 1002nd naruto cosplayer that just put things together in 2 hours that they dragged out of their grandmother's closet, it's like...come on! atleast put SOME feeling into it. throwing on a sweatshirt and a naruto headband and calling your sasuke...is that really cosplay? I guess it just makes me feel jealous that people can get away with something like that while I had to put weeks and weeks worth of effort into my costume.

Naruto Is around to stay for a while. The series isn't even finished yet and with it now airing domestically the younger generation will be picking up on it. Besides, the reason it's so popular is because it's a really good show >_>

I think Kingdom Hearts and Bleach are the next two trends that are going to die off, KH first, Bleach eventually but it's still coming out with new stuff too.

I'm 100% not a fan of Naruto. But Nargooks? That's probably not the best thing to call a group of people. Has a bit of racism to it, but maybe you didn't know that. Just a heads up.

If you do know that, well.... :-/ we really don't need that kind of crap.

Yo, RoMayDrako: "gook" is a really racist, derogatory term for "Asian". Please do not use it on these boards.

And BTW, I am wondering; WHY bother to let yourself get upset if a Naruto fan simply demonstrates their love of their fandom by wearing a headband and a random assortment of clothes that look vaguely like the character? They may not even consider it an actual full "cosplay" themselves, you know, but they are entitled to enjoy themselves by dressing as they wish within the acceptable bounds of social decency laws and the rules of the venue. Certainly their behavior appears to actually hurt nobody.

If you find their behavior silly, why not simply skim over them, as one does the rest of the scenery, and merely bestow your appreciative full attention on a cosplayer who actually has a costume you like? No need to "get yer panties in a bunch", as they say. ^^ It's not necessary to get an ulcer over such a truly trivial thing.

I love the Naruto series but SERIOUSLY! these people really do need to stop it with Naruto cosplaying in public unless at a convention or a specially hosted event. As for the cosplay thing dieing, there's a slight chance it will but not for awile. One cosplay I'm definitly sick of is Sailor Moon, that one is just testing my nerve. By the way RoMayDrako, is it like an event these Narutards are going to or is it like everyday they show up cosplaying at this place you call the "happiest" place on earth?

I love Naruto! I've followed it since my first convention (AWA 9 - 2003) back when it was still a fan-sub. I have nothing against Naruto cosplayers.

The only thing that irks me is BAD Naruto cosplay, because it gives the series, and all other Naruto fans/cosplayers a bad name.

When someone trys to cosplay as a Naruto character and their costume is BAD (and I mean it's God awful, like a t-shirt and duck-tape awful, while wearing tennis shoes) I can't feel anything other than offended.

I see nothing wrong with random ninja/OC character ninja cosplays. I find that it's far better for someone to make their own character instead of making an incredibly bad cosplay of a pre-existing character. Better yet, I love when people do parody costumes! I'd love to see a group of Sailor Scout "Narutards".

And further note: I see nothing wrong with cosplaying whenever and where ever the hell they want to. It's a free country.

I went to Wal-mart in my Hikaru costume, after walgreens mysteriously was "closed" (customers were in there ;p). I got the craziest looks but why does it matter what society thinks? Anyway, onto the point, I think RoMayDrako's post was trying to get people to stop posting half-assed Naruto cosplay as it degrades the name of cosplay. I'm not a Naruto Fan myself, I stopped watching it in June-August 2004, but I don't like that overall. People shouldn't throw random things together and waltz up here with an attitude.

Uhm.....what do you mean by you're sick of Sailor Moon? Like Beverly & Sarcasm-hime said "People say it's easy to do a Sailor Moon cosplay but it's not easy to do it well" It's not terribly easy to do it if you're a beginner, but I've seen some really well done cosplays. If what you're mad at is people who cosplay Sailor Moon horribly, alot of people choose it as their first, and you should consider that.
