Lucia's shoulder piece
Last year I made a Lucia (Lunar2) costume for halloween, and I'm going to be ressurecting it for Otakon this year, but I have a problem with the shoulder piece.
Since it was a rush job, I used a piece of posterboard and some fishing line to hold it on, and for all the cheapness, it really did look good, as I trimmed it with the necessary decorations and such. But even after wearing it once it was pretty much destroyed...gee, I wonder why. I've been searching around, but have yet to find something that will work for it, so I came here. Any suggestions would be welcomed, provided that they aren't that expensive. And if someone wants a reference pic of the character, http://www.lunareb.com/cgi-bin/image...g&des=Lucia+09 Thanks! |

You could probably use some 1/4" thick "foamies" craft foam sheets. They come in many different colors, and you could curve them by hotgluing them to some wire.

Would that stuff be sturdy? I mean, I'm probably not going to be the most gentle to it at the con.
And it also looks like I'm going to have to re-make the entire costume. Apparantly everything but the hat either got destroyed, or disappeared into the depths of my closet. Not a big deal, I'm looking forward to re-making it. |

Cheapo method #4...
You could actually use a 2 liter soda bottle cut in half and then glue the foamie sheets to it in layers. It would be sturdy and definitely nice looking. I suggest gluing foamie sheets to both sides.. My 2 cents..^_^ |

Thank you so much. I'm going to try that as soon as I have free time.

Ooh, nice idea, using the soda bottles. I think I'll use that myself... =D
