In search of Vash's Gun
My friend Vergil is finally getting his Vash costume all put together, and the one thing we're having hell finding is the Angel Arms Revolver. The one place in the USe that sells the airsoft is sold out and only taking waiting list orders, and I can't find it anywhere else. Any vashes out there have some leads for us?

I've seen and taken pictures of a lot of Vash cosplayers. I've asked most of them about their guns and they have all told me they made it. I've never really known a site that sold Vash's gun. The angle arm would be amazing, but again, never seen it being sold.

That gun is really hard to come by, they're one of the hardest props to find. The only place that might have it from time to time is eBay (and I'm not talking about the knock-offs that are always on there).

I'm gonna cut you in on something: No. It's not a hard prop to find. It's not hard because people make it. I could spend twenty years looking for a replica of Opera Vectra's assault rifle and never find one. Ya'know why? Cause nobody will ever, EVER make a resin kit of it. Ever. The only instances you'll ever see of it will always be commissioned or homemade. The same can be said about the vast majority of costumes; I fail to see how it is difficult to obtain a prop that money can buy. There are five props that will eternally be on the "Easy to Obtain" list: 1. Anything from Star Trek or Star Wars 2. Vash's Revolver 3. The Seburo MN-23 4. Link's Sword 5. Naruto Headbands Last edited by Alternist : 08-07-2007 at 12:00 AM. |

The airsoft gun is an older Tokyo Murai handgun with a conversion kit, on the downside it doesn't work after assebled. Seems some one has beaten me to link for the sid one.
If the person doesn't/can't spend that much money on a prop, papercraft it, it's what I did and everybody seemed to love it. And yes there is a papercraft version that breaks open and has removable shells. |

Alternist is right on that its easy to find a copycat kit that might or might not be 100% accurate since Vash is quite possibly the most cosplayed character ever. That said, the SID kit is close, but the grip, receiver in front of the cylinder, hammer and break action areas are all different from the original kit. Depends (like most things) on how much do you want to spend and how long do you want to look?
If you're going authentic replica route, your search is hard, or really, really hard dependant on which version you're looking for. There were three models made to my knowledge as actual accurate licensed replica kits. Oddly enough the link that Verdatum posted was written by a fine gentleotaku that helped my bro and I way back when and completed the gun that my lil' bro owns shown here: http://images.cosplay.com/showphoto.php?photo=485984. Domo again Ryukumon-sama. Sorry to regurgitate here but here's my .02 for those who didn't follow the link. It was made and marketed in Japan only during the late 90's and was discontinued by about 2000. The is the Dai Nippon Geiken/Poseidon version that required a Tokyo Marui M-29 capgun to complete in order to actuate the trigger and turn the cylinder. It was not airsoft completable. A company called Genpropz made really crap replicas in 2001 but I don't think they exist anymore. The second is the version from Trigun Maximum available as a completed airsoft in Japan only again. I've only seen two and both cosplayers I spoke with in 2001 paid upwards of a grand for it. It differs substantitally from the anime version in that the counterweight is thicker, has the Vash badge and has the milling pattern on the bottom instead of ribbing of the anime or the smoothness of the DNG kit. From what I heard this was discontinued well before the DNG/Poseidon versions came out. The third version was Trigun Maximum style kit by DNG/Poseidon requiring an M-29 or .357 style airsoft to complete and this was also discontinued. Seen here: http://www.poseidon.co.jp/6F/vash_o/vgv_1.html All that useless knowledge aside your best bet is to find a Mateba Revolver( the original revolver the Vash/Knives gun was based on) replica, mod it tproperly and go from there, otherwise you might as well commission one since there are quite a few copies floating about that people with varying degrees of skill have copied in resin or thin styrene. Featherweight on here made a very impressive version from cardboard. Last edited by Kabane : 08-07-2007 at 04:42 PM. Reason: Alternist's post D'oh |

I´ve seen what are pretty much replicas of Vash´s gun in the Dollar Store before... if they needed anything it was a new battery for the `Bang´sounds they made and maybe a more metalic spreypaint job.
Check it out.
