Hidan's Scythe

Hiya. First post ;D

Mmk, so. I'm going to AWA as Hidan (and genin Jiraiya, but that doesn't pertain to this), and of course, I need a scythe.

I have all the materials, and know how to go about making it except for one thing: I have no idea how to attach the blades to the staff-part.

Does anyone have any tips? In case it helps any, the staff is made of PVC pipe, and the blades are pink insulation foam.

first buy some bigger pvc piping and make three pieces that fit over the pvc piping you will then glue those into place and glue the foam to the staff

Actually, if you're talking about the white things that look as if they hold the blade to the staff, they're taken care of, and in a much lighter way.

I'm actually wondering what glue would be best to stick the foam to the staff, and would hold up the best. The scythe needs to survive a four hour car ride and a full day at the con without the blades breaking off.

Anyone know if I could find a step-by-step on how to make the scythe? I really don't even know where to start and I want it to look realistic.

You could try using this method.

Or following this video, but making it a lot better.

Go with 2 part Epoxy, It wont melt the foam and bonds very well with the PVC. Make sure to ruff up the PVC pipe first with some 60 - 80 grit sand paper.

None of the ref images are working for me for some reason, so I can't see exactly what it is supposed to look like, but I'll try to offer some advice anyway. Instead of trying to glue the blade directly onto the staff, I would recommend cutting a slit into the pvc pipe to slide the blade into. That way it isn't able to just pop off if it gets hit against something on accident. Also, one of the strongest glue I know of is Gorilla Glue. It bonds pretty much anything to anything, but be careful and use it sparingly because it expands.
