Dyeing a synthetic wig?

Is it possible to dye a wig made out of synthetic fibers?
If so, please explain how to do it.

i've heard of sharpy-ing wigs. xD How does THAT work?

Please and thanks,

Yes. Most of the dying methods discussed in this forum are for synthetic wigs, because human hair wigs are usually too expensive for cosplay. Sharpie dying can be done several ways. The more tedious method involves coloring directly onto the wig fiber with Sharpie markers. Other methods involve taking the ink cartridge out of the pens and mixing the ink with rubbing alcohol. The mixture will then either be sprayed onto the wig in a spray bottle, or put in a container to dunk the wig in.

Run a search in the forum for threads with more specific directions though, I just summarized.

Calligraphy ink that sometimes comes in bottles, after mixed with rubbing alcohol also works, same technique as the sharpie dying way, you don't don't have to break open the sharpies to get the ink. the wig may become stiff, and weird, but once you brush it out it will be fine.

Everything you could possibly want about Sharpie-ing a wig.
