Not to be a jerk, but shouldn't all this SW discussion go into the Samurai Warriors thread?

Exclamation Help!

Hey everybody. I'm working on a Gan Ning Dynasty Warriors 6 costume, but I don't know what to do about the armor chest plate. So far on the chest armor, I've decided to make the armor from a leather material and I made the muscles in individual pieces. To give the armor definition, I stuffed them with cardboard and hot glued them together, but now I don't know what to do to stick them together; I can't sew them together because of the cardboard and I'm afraid the pieces will fall if I decide to hot glue them onto another piece of fabric. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make the chest armor?

Another Gan Ning Cosplayer here used large pieces of craft foam and used heat to mold the pieces into shape. he hot glued everything together and used paint to create more definition.

Why not use pleather as a base for your armour?

You can cover the inside with white school glue (I simply pured a small amount on one hand and than hand-covered and spread it on per hand) than put on a layer of cheap cotton over it. Cut it out to big and repeat the process one or two times. This gives stability and will allow you to attatch shoulder straps. either use leather, pleater or some sort of fabric in fitting color for it. This will hold the armor in place and also give you a good base for the shoulder parts.

Personally I'd make the armor so, that you can open and close it at one side. On the linked page there is a small, black line under the arm. If you want to make it look invisible, you might want to buy... I don't know what it is called, but it looks like the closening on a bra. Fabric stores usually sell them per meter and you need the hooks and the 'holes' in fitting lengt.
Sew them to fabric (in proper color) and glue that in a similar way to discribed above to the side of the armor. In fact, you might want to add another layer of the fabric mentioned above.

I'm not sure if I describet this good enough. If you don't understand the description, I can draw you a sketch on what I mean.

Dragon, you're getting so creative in your techniques!

For Sun Ce's breastplate, I'm cutting up an old plastic mannequin's torso. It cost $50 from a second-hand shop re-fitter. I'm going to alter the muscles to be more accurate by adding Wonderflex to the mannequin. I'm wondering if you could perhaps do the same kind of thing for Gan Ning's very distinct armour?

Oh man, I just finished cutting out the tiger applique for Sun Ce's cape... it took waaaaaaaay longer than I'd anticipated, but I hope it'll look good once I've sewn it on (but I have to untangle it all first! X_x).

Sun Ce is done!!! And I just want to say that the technique I'd mentioned in previous posts to make the breastplate was a REALLY STUPID idea! ^_^;; I ended up using heaps and heaps of Wonderflex and putty.

Then the love for it will be spread here:

<3333333
I saw it on your blog just yesterday and... *o*
I want to touch it, kidnapp you, steal your weapon and make you (and your partner) perform here in germany all at the same time!

I really think you outdid yourself with that one... Thought you need to take backshoot soon! The cape must be done justice!

You may kidnap me anytime you like, Dragon! There was a mix-up at wcs, and for a short time, Asham and I were Team Austria instead of Australia, so it's like I'm almost yours anyway.

Sadly, I think Sun Ce is going to be my last Dynasty Warrior for a loooong time. I wanted to do Lu Bu or Yuan Shao, but I just don't have the love for it after all the hassles Ce caused. X_x

Meh... I wish there WAS a team Austria -.- *feeling mobbed*

:3 Don't tempt me Mel XD I'm already planning a trip to Finland next year and Australia has been on my list for a long time :3

I do believe that. I know I'm not going to do a cosplay like Hanbei's for some time. All cosplays I've planned for the future are... rather easy going compared to what I did this year ^^° BUT! Still Samurai themed.

Aside from that, I think only Lu Bu would top your Sun Ce
Which version of Yuan Shao btw? DW6? Same question for Bubu-chan <3

And you are missed at a certain board elsewhere

What, Finland? :O
Oh, I live there... did you plan to go to a con, fellow DW fan?

Sorry, not intention to creep you out, I just happened to pass by this thread and hyped when I read Finland.

Oooh, I so badly want to cosplay Liu Bei (DW5) and Zhou Yu (DW5) some day when I have skill-level enough for doing both of those justice...

I originally planned to go to London Expo and then go to Finland to visit a friend, but I'm not sure if I'll do it that way.
Combining visiting my friend and dragging her to Fin-Con does sound ike an idea thought. She did want to go to one (and start cosplaying SW/DW too) ;P

Certainly not this year, perhaps next. Latest 2012 is my ambition.
I'll probably have to have her translate unless everyone is kind enough to speak english ^^°

^ Will do
... Thought I'll probably either do DW4 Xunny or SSX since those two where the first characters I played. Well SSX was. Xunny I thought to be a girl at first and it was an "I like that character" instant feeling ^^
When i figured he was a boy I was like "O.o A dude?
Oh well... He's quite a pretty one ^o^ "
XD

Or perhaps something entirely else? XD
I'm doing more WO and SW cos thought ;P
