Come the middle of August, I will finally be getting off my lazy behind and actually start going on and gathering fabrics for Wei Yan. I already know the place I need to go.

Hopefully more updates will come when I get started on the costume.

Wow... that is just horrible. I hope you are at least going to get it after purchasing it. There are too many sub-par commissioners on Ebay. No offense to anyone who may sell their stuff there, but I think a lot of the people that sell commissioned costumes are waaaaay too shady.

I don't think I've ever seen a Wei Yan. That will be sweet.

Wei Yan should definitely be coming to A-Kon '07 and hopefully Anime Expo.

Also, one more thing....

I've been looking at the Props & Accessories forum section about masks, but I wanted to ask my fellow Dynasty Warriors fans what you think is the best/easiest method for mask making. Please let me know, that's probably my biggest worry right now.

Build your mask on top of an existing plastic mask. Have a look around party shops, and find one that is a similiar shape to work with. Even if the finished result looks nothing like the base mask, you've still got lines and edges to work with.

When I made the dragon for Ma Chao's helmet, the original plasticine master was built on top of a cat mask. O_o It REALLY helped me get an even curve for the face, and line the eyes and nose up.

If you're not planning to mould and cast your mask, automotive putty is my favourite sculpting material, as it is firm and dries quickly. However, it is quite heavy.

I hope this helps, or at least, inspires you!

My buddy Sara (aka Chocochick here) knows some methods for making masks. You should PM her and ask her about rigid wrap. I believe that was the one mask making material she knows tons about.

Hey guys, I have a progress pic up of Gan Ning's vest. The brocade/embroidery still needs painted on, but figured it's better than nothing. Check out my gallery xD

Just to make sure I give credit though, my friend Crizl did that part of the costume since my sewing skills are below satisfactory xD;

I'll be starting the leg wrap tomorrow and the boots on Monday at the latest. ^_^ As for binding, I'm probably going to go the sports bra x duct tape method O_O;

DUCT TAPE! Good luck XD

When you cut the fabric for your leg wrap, since you're just doing a single layer and you aren't doubling it up or whatever (to my knowledge.. actually this would apply even if you are doubling it up), make sure you fix the edges so they won't fray. If the fabric is mostly synthetic, you can just take a lighter to the edges and that'll seal them up, but if it's mostly fabric, then you'll want to hem the edges. That's where a sewing machine comes in handy. After making cosplay for the past two days STRAIGHT (and I do mean straight), I've learned a thing or two. And spilled about a pint of blood XDDD

and the duct tape isnt so bad when it's not touching the skin. if it's touching the bra then i dont see an issue o_O

Just a random question, but how would you go about appliquing (sp?) designs onto fabrics? That sounds interesting.
