I need help: Filming at Cons..

I need help on filming at anime cons. Everytime I film/record at a con / masquerade, I ended up getting some really bad audio/sound. Right now I'm looking for a microphone for my Sony camcorder, but I don't know which one to choose from.

these are the microphones I'm thinking of...

http://www.sonystyle.com/home/item.j...d=&itemid=4071

So I'm asking you? WHICH ONE would be perfect for a con/masquerade event?

Hi
I would like to help you with your problem, but I need some more information about your camcorder (what model is it?) and how do you record the sound at the masquerades (using int/ext microphone and where are you placed in proportion to the sound you want to record?).
I have check out the microphone you wanted to buy for your camcorder.
The one I wouldn't choose is the WCS-999.

I owned a Sony CCD-TRV67 with a 2.5 LCD screen, built in light, nightshot, and 360x digital zoom...

When I record at Cons/Masquerades, depending on how much people is talking in one room, or if someone is far away (in the masquerade), I'll have to get close as I can to them. That's how I work when it comes to getting "good audio"...

here's a pic of how my camcorder looks...

I have check some reviews of your camcorder and everybody was pleased with the picture quality, BUT NOT WITH THE AUDIO QUALITY.
It seems that sony have save some money on the audio circuit. Is it possible to adjust the sound level (when you are recording) on the camcorder or is it controlled by the camcorder itself (AGC)?
If you want to record the sound from the masquerade you need to have the mic placed on the scene for having a good result.
And for this you need a good microphone tripod that are acoustic isolated from the floor, so you dont get the noise from people walking on the stage in your recordnings.

The best will be to get the sound from the mixerpult, but I think that the sound engineer wouldn't let you do that

While we're on the topic of filming, does anyone else have issues with peope filming you at the dance or just walking down the halls without asking?

The Masq is meant to be staged entertainment, so I understand, but random cosplayers going on with their lives?

So far, I only recorded the ACen 2K to 2K2 dances, and what I come up with, people don't care if I film them or not.. And filming at the halls, I don't think people cared too... Just look at my ACen2K2 to see what I mean....

My ACen2K2 video

just a note on the video: This is how people at ACen2K2 acted when I film, THIS IS NOT AN ACT!! They just do some crazy $hit, like me (as Parappa) getting in a "fight" with a cosplay dress as Zell.. If you see people dancing/raving, or a green screen, that's from the dance....
