I dont think this is the right place to ask but...is it safe to layer contacts?
Like, if you need a prescription but the color contacts are 20/20, can you wear regular contacts under the color ones? |

It's not quite, but absolutely never layer your contacts. I really can't stress it enough: you can potentially cause serious damage to your eyes doing that. Best to just get colored contacts in the prescription you need them in.

funny how my eye doctor told me it was fine for me to layer my scelaras and my regular contacts. saying it was ok as long as it wasn't for a full day straight.

I'm honestly shocked they said that. Thinking about it though, I imagine the reason why I can think of your doctor saying that was okay, over regular contacts, is that the sclera covers the entire eye, so it shifts much less than a standard contact does. I also presume they said sclera-then-regulars over those. The regular contacts don't have a chance to scratch your corneas. (Even if the reverse were true, the standard contact under a sclera won't shift through the day, unless you're rubbing at your eyes)
The problem with layer regular contacts is the increased risk of damage you can do to your eyes due to their shifting around, stuff that can get trapped between lenses, and so on (I used to have a web page that far more eloquently lists the risks of layering contacts, but I cannot for the life of me find it now). Honestly though, your point makes me think: if anything, Nana.Tsuki, talk to your optometrist. It's just a phone call away and you've got nothing to lose. I'm pretty sure that in this instance, with standard lenses over standard lenses, they'll back me on it but for all I know, they might give you other advice. As an aside and to end my long winded-ness before the thread jumps back on topic ( ), Nana.Tsuki: you obviously already have the prescription and have been fitted for contacts. You can easily go online and buy colored contacts (it's not so expensive), when they ask for your optometrist's information, just tell them your eye-care center. The website will check with them and then send your contacts. I bought my colors through Walmart, and the whole process of them checking with my eye-care providers to make sure I have a legitimate prescription and the actual making/sending of the contacts was pretty quick.

Thanks everyone :3
Azimel, how much were your colored contacts? All I've seen are 50 and above...x___x Too expensive for me. And Im not sure if this is normal...but my eyes feel better when I AM wearing contacts. They feel funny when I take them off. Like, I get the 'they breath' part, but....it feels REALLY uncomfortable P: It's almost like the contacts became a shield and warmer for my eyes or something x'D Is that supposed to be a good thing? |

I've looked through most of the threads on cosplay.com for gold contact info, and someone said that Vivid Honey doesn't change eye color hardly at all. Don't bother with them. I'm thinking about trying Heavenly Hazel Water Colors: http://www.fantasycity.nl/cubecart/i...&productId=151 , but can't find them in prescription anywhere (let alone anywhere else!) Are these a discontinued Color Max???

Does anyone have pictures of Bella Hazel being worn? I'd really appreciate it!
I've been looking for weeks upon weeks for good affordable prescription gold contacts, and I'm losing hope. ![]()

But, I just ordered the Green Ambition ones for my Vexen cosplay. If the ones you are modeling in that first set of photos are indeed the Green Ambition, I will be INSANELY happy, because those look PERFECT for the Academic. ![]() |

This has to do with contacts, though not completely directly, so excuse this, if this is seems somewhat inappropriate. ^^;;
I would really love to get the Acuvue Sapphire Blue. The only problem is, is that my mom thinks that they will completely destroy my eyes or something. I'm trying to convince her that they're fine, but she is just not even considering them. Any suggestions? >3< (Also, I was 'gonna use these for Roxas, Princess Tutu, and Naruto. Are these the right color?) Thank you~! : ) |
