Dig Musicals?
What are your thoughts on musicals in general?
In light of Chicaco winning Best Movie of the year and being the 9th musical to win a Best Movie award I was wondering if musicals are only now starting to get their push again. They had a bigger push back way before I was born.  But still I've always liked them because my family is so musically-intuitive. I know the whole idea about singing in the middle of a conversation is a bit absurd, but the songs are really hard to sing and pretty as well! Plus the plots are pretty funny, or can teach something, etc. Oh and for reference my favorite Musicals are Scarlet Pimpernel, Chorus Line, and Bye Bye Birdie.  |

ive been brought up on musicals, there is always one playing in my house, recently Ragtime is playing all the time, thats mostly due to my sister, but right now, Cats is on...

I like a lot of musicals... they tend to try to push creativity, and I like that... I was very happy to have gotten to see CATS performed this year... but then, Jesus Christ Superstar came too, but I can't keep dishing out $60 a seat. ;_;
Now, anime musicals are amusing and frightening all at once. ;P |

Musicals are great! ^^ Since I've danced ballet for a long time, I've sorta grown up on the music. This year in Music Theory, I studied Les Miserables. And I love Chicago.

Okay now that I've slept I can reply to this topic better. ^_^; I grew up watching little more than 50s and 60s musicals on AMC.. Good stuff all around.
I'm glad that they're slowly making a comeback, even though I've seen very few of the new ones today.. and of course, stage theatre still lives on! Yay! |

Lessee... I sang in choir all my life, and have now been pursuing acting... I think musicals are in my blood. o.o;;
No, I love them too, but people are always like, "What a crappy storyline!!" Hullo. It's not about the storyline, you dimwit. :P It's about truth freedom and love!!!! :P |

I've always been the kind of girl that wishes real life were a musical, people randomly break out into song and dance in the middle of the street. Oh that would be beautiful! my friends think I'm weird for that. But A Chorus Line is one of my favorites, along with Jesus Christ Superstar. I will always love The Sound Of Music. Always! |

Musicals kick ass!!!
I love watching old stuff like Sound of music and Chitty chitty bang bang. (Isn't the Wizard of Oz a musical too). I've even played in one myself, but I didn't get to sing or dance, only acting (but I did get a really good role after just half a year in that drama class). This summer me and my dad might be going to London and we hope to catch a show there. Even though I've been there twice before we never got to do that, but he's seen Buddy (about Buddy Holiday). I wanna see the one about Queen or maybe the Witches of Eastwich

Yikes! Where would I even begin? I'm a professional musician and have always loved musicals, whether performing or watching! Secret Garden, Rocky Horror, Into the Woods, Assasins, . . .GAH! oooo - Sweeny Todd is fun, too (in a gruesome kinda way). (Just keep me away from Music Man or La Mancha - those tunes get stuck in my head for weeks after!)
