(ETA: Forgot to add, I'm not sure if my first ever made it to the mod approval phase because my browser up and went BOOM when I clicked submit. So, if for some reason it goes through as well, consider it a double-post and delete/ignore it. My apologies, for Firefox and its suckitude on Macs. ><)
Hello, all. My first post about this never made it up, so hopefully this one will.
I'm planning on cosplaying in FMA Military costume at Yaoicon this year. Yeah, yeah, another one. =P Anyway, I decided I wanted to make my costume rather than purchase one, given that the ones available on eBay never seem to be the correct shade of blue, the silver trim is way too shiny, etc.
I have a pattern for the jacket that I believe I can modify to suit my needs; however, does anyone have any suggestions, tips, etc.? I've read through the old threads concerning the topic, and the most commonly given piece of advice was to visit
http://www.storms-end.com/cosplay/hagaren_uniforms/ -- a site that no longer exists, and which I cannot track down anywhere else.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as it's been years since I've sewn a proper costume and am kinda nervous about it coming out right. I'm making a miniature out of felt just to get the feel of how the pieces go together, and then a full-sized jacket out of muslin to test sizing before I go screwing up my good fabric, but I really could use some suggestions and advice -- especially about things like the trim and pattern modification (I have an idea of what to do in my head, but getting that into the final product is always a challenge).
All assistance and advice is very much welcome!
