i was reading u have to be in pairs or do a skit? is that true? Like people let people down and such and what not.

Also has any info came out if the judge will judge on pass costumes that a person has made and also the costume ur entering OR JUST THAT Costume your entering?

Yes, you have to be in pairs. And yes, you need a skit. We have to show that we are the whole package - both the cos and the play elements of cosplay.

People let people down all the time... you just have to pair up with someone you trust.

I doubt we'll be judged on our previous accomplishments - that is an extremely unfair way to judge ANY competition.

It is cruel to say "Hey newbie, you can't win because I've won [this many] awards in the past!" I HOPE we are being judged on our one costume then and there, because it SHOULD be our best work.

I was only asking. Since someone was asking me and i just thought someone would ask the question later, plus i was curious too, since there isn't allot of info and i just got all the info i could of floatymans website and he said he isn't 100% sure and this forum didn't care it up. So i thought i would just ask a question. I probably wont be entering cos i have no one and my costumes aren't up to standard. And a judge has already made a remark "your the team to bet" so comparing my costumes to yours I have no hope, allot of other cosplayers feel like this as well who don't have account on cosplay.com but have one on DA.

All it was just a simple question that is all.

I'm far too old and jaded to care what anyone is saying. If they want to quit before they've even tried, then that's their decision. No one ever succeeded by giving up.

I want to cry just looking at some of the entries for past WCS. OMG!! It's so stressful. Must work hard!! >__< Korea's entry makes me want to cry.

Btw, I was on the WCS website and I heard the judging there will be based on skit, costume worksmanship and how close it is to the original work and how they both fit in with each other based on character personality etc.

Don't know if that info is much help to anyone but well, good luck everyone ^^. I will be competing too!

Yep, that info is correct, that's how it will be judged at Animania too.

BTW, rules have been ready for the last 2 months, but they are waiting for the webmaster to upload the 2008 website first.

I just read Floatyman's interview with you, Wakaleo... and I have just one more question that I need cleared up. ^_^;;

I understand that the costumes that are to be worn in the finals and the Japanese event itself have to be from anime/manga... but I heard rumours that game characters could be entered in the mini-Animania prelims. Is this true? Or do all of the costumes have to be anime/manga based?

game characters are fine, as long as the game is japan-made, not US.

*wikipediaed it and its made by capcom

history for u guys -
Capcom is mainly the leading Japanese international game developer.
(but has headquarters all over the world)

The cosplay competition will require Pre-registration online. It will open soon (after the main website is uploaded).

WCS portfolio (see sample provided online) can be sent to the cosplay email (cosplay@animania.net.au) address anytime from now, until 3 weeks before Animania (29th March) starts.
